Girlfriend won't play OoT

I have the perfect idea! Show her the game again and go to a skullwalltulla and kill it for her and she'll love you even more! sorry. that wont work. I honestley dont know what to do! does she freak out even if she sees a little plush animal spider? maybe you should slowly introduce her to spiders. You know, like go slow and get her used to them. Just a thought.

Remind her that virtual spiders can't possibly hurt you. Kill a real spider to show her how easy it is.

keep at it, OOT can piratically cure cancer and give you immortality i think eventually it will cure her problem

I don't think it's cause she thinks they'll hurt her, I think it's cause she doesn't like them in general.

Um, how can anyone be shaky just from seeing a spider? The spiders in OoT don't even move like spiders... they just look like spiders... My mum has arachnaphobia and she gets frightened of the way they move... not the look of them

I also find it ridiculous that you can almost be crying from seeing a little spider. God she would have trouble if she lived in the olden days when people's houses were full of spiders. She'd be having heart attacks... seriously, five every week.

If what your saying is true, all I can suggest is that you can try to convince her to get through with it, I mean, life is about challenges... and that would be a good challenge for her. Or you can save her from seeing Queen Gohma.. that'll probably kill her. You don't want to do that.

Or you can just beat Queen G yourself and let her play on from there.

That sounds like something really serious. I, like many people in the world, have that phobia too, but she has such an extreme case of it that I HIGHLY recommend that she gets help. That could honestly kill her if she sees something like a tarantula, which could happen since people keep them for pets sometimes and they can escape from their owners and wander about.

This belongs in General Chit Chat (GCC) for it's not really about Zelda, but more-so your girlfriend and her phobia.

I think if she doesnt whant to play because of spiders dont make her

Make her play it anyway, and scream at her until she finishes the game.

Just for fun, make sure she never shoots any skullwalltulas. If she has to climb past one, so be it.

Also, give her a penalty each time she complains. Whenever she complains, she has to take time out of whatever she's doing, and walk around in the Kakariko Skulltula House for 3 minutes.

Whenever she screams about a spider, just scream I'll give you something to scream about and then start raping her.

Either that or tell her to get over it cause it's fake.

Not at all, I guess re reading it that I phrased it wrong. I meant that the way he decribed her sounds like my ex, and her+video games didn't work out. I know lots of girls who could probaly kick my ass at almost every game I own. Sorry if I ofended you, I realy didn't mean it to come acrosse like that.

Why not try WW? I don't think that's got any spiders in if I remember correctly? Also, my gf loved it, all the colourful graphics and cute characters and stuff...

Anyway, to make this relevant...How's it going with persuading you gf to play OoT?
I don't think it's something you want to push really; it could make things worse. Phobias are generally like a primal instinct, back from the days of living and caves and such, where you would most likely die if a spider bit you. Even if someone with arachnophobia knows a spider isn't going to hurt them, they will still have an irrational fear of it.

Maybe it is a good idea to see a hypnotist or expert of some kind, to see if they can cure it, or at least make it not as bad. Because if she's terrified of a picture of a spider, or even a computer-game spider that doesn't even look much like a spider, then your girlfriend must have it pretty seriously.

Ah, this thread's going quite well, isn't it?

Anyway, update! She came over about an hour ago... and she actually said herself, "I want to play Zelda!"

I was shocked!
"But what about the spiders?" I enquired, in a surprised tone,
"Oh, you can do those parts for me," she replied, "Just tell me when they're coming!"

So anyways, she's still here now, happily exploring Lon Lon Ranch. I got her out of the Deku Tree, and she watched the cutscene and almost cried! 'If she likes emotional cutscenes', I thought, 'then I'll have to get her to play Majora's Mask next!' (She actually wants to play MM, because of a bad dream about it I told her about involving the Moon falling, ReDeads and Odolwa). Unlike most first-time players, she actually paid intricate detail to the cutscenes - even Kaepora bloody Gaebora's lecture, so she knew exactly where to go and what to do. She breezed through the castle guards and learned Zelda's lullaby - she says she'll go to Death Mountain later.

I'll have to tell her about the Skullwalltulas there lol.

But, I ramble. The agreement is; no spiders for her, no sex for me - but she's playing Zelda instead, and that's better, so it's okay.

As for all the stuff about rape... only when she gets addicted to the game and forgets all about me... around Adult Linkish time? Which reminds me, I mustn't let her go into the Forest Temple... FOR GOD'S SAKE I MUSTN'T LET HER GO INTO THE FOREST TEMPLE!

Anyway, thanks for all the help, everyone (except maybe Aeffles)! But seriously, I have slight arachnophobia too. Not too bad - I'm not scared of little spiders... or tarantulas for that matter... just the freakishly large-and-fast housespiders. I was never scared of Skulltulas, though - maybe the cursed ones in Kakariko, but who isn't scared of those things?

Skulltulas just aren't spiders to me... even the ones in TP which are far more spider-like!
