I liked it because you could be doing something else and come across a Gold Skulltulla and be all "Ooh, there's another one".

Plus it gave you something else to do in the dungeons, which is always good.

Come to think of it, Ocarina of Time dungeons had Gold Skulltullas, Majora's Mask dungeons had Fairies, but dungeons in The Wind Waker didn't really have anything extra to track down other than the usual culprits of all the treasure chests which the above mentioned gamed obviously had, anyway.

It was great. The skultula challenge took the most time of any side quest in any Zelda game I've played. Being time-consuming doesnt make it good, but being an actual challenge does.

What? I can think of one specifically in the Water Temple that you can't get until you have the longshot.

I only ever got 99, and I searched and searched for the 100th, but couldn't find it anywhere. What happened when you got all 100? Did that last cursed man turn back normal in that house in Kakariko? The one in the center?

There is a way you can get them all, just as long as you have bombs, boomerang and the song of storms.

You should check the mapscreen to see which area is missing a Skulltulla symbol, and double check all the dungeons as well.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
When you turn the last guy back after 100, he gives you 200 rupees every time you talk to him.

No no and no. I hate it! too many skulltullas to find! I still have to finish it to complete the game though and I'm not looking forward to it. Well acctually its a good thing cause it makes the game harder to complete and it adds more things to do in the game so its not so easy.

If you've already got the one in the hidden hole by the tree inside the fence of Hyrule Castle in the child timeline then this won't work.
For everyone else. Find the hidden hole mentioned above.
Go down the hole and there will be a skulltula. Stand by the exit. Kill the skulltula. Use boomerang to collect token. Throw boomerang but before the token gets back to you, leave the hole. The token will register to your score but if you go down into the hole, the skulltula will be alive. You can keep doing this until you get 999 tokens.
You don't get any other rewards for tokens above 100.

The "rupee-flaw" is almost every Zelda game, and sadly Nintendo didn't try fixing it in TP.

Its good for it to be in the game whether annoying or not. I certainly gives you something to do when you're done with the game.

I have no idea how you all can find them all! The most I've ever gotten was like 40. Couldn't find anymore. Probably because I've never really tried. Should, one of these days.

I don't love collecting skulltulas, but I certainly don't hate it either. I think the most I've gotten was about 50 something, and every time I play the game I get the same ones over and over again.... One of these days I'll have to use a guide to get them all. They aren't really something I'm constantly on the lookout for. If I see one, or I know one is there, I'll get it, but I don't go out searching for them.
I thought the bugs in TP were better. Small, but not so many.

I thought is was a pretty good sidequest, haven't finished it yet though and I am not planning to do it. It was also good beacuse that made you look around Hyrule more.

I didn't find the Skulltula quest that challenging. You just have to work out the system: which areas apply to which map markers and so on. Once you clear all the Skulltulas in the dungeons, then it's just a question of clearing them in the surrounding area. If a section of the map still doesn't have a Skulltula mark on it, then plant bugs in the soft soil patches, and look around at night as both a child and an adult until they do have markers. Amazingly, there is a grand total of two Skulltulas in Hyrule Field, which really helps narrow it down.

It was enjoyable, but OOT's sidequests were somewhat lacking in general.
