Zelda = Anistasia?

Has anyone else noticed that OOT seems to mirror the movie Anistasia? You know, the one about the royal Russian family? OK, here's how it goes:

Zelda/Anistasia is the princess living happily in the castle. Link/Dimitri meets Z/A and soon after Gannondorf/Rasputin attacks Hyrule/Russia and drives out the royal family. Years later, L/D meets Shiek/Anya who turns out to really be Z/A and then in the end they defeat G/R.

See?

Uhh,It relates to Anastasia's story in the sense that two people meet when they were little, then reunite later on when they are adults.
But other than that,i don't see any resemblance.

First off, the movie Anastasia isn't even accurate in any way. It is a happy, family friendly Disneyised version of a real event!

The actual event was in 1917 with the October Revolution and the fall of the Romenov dynasty, which led to the formation of the USSR. Grigori Rasputin hjad very little to do with these events except to discredit the Tzarist regime, which may have given Lenin a reason to start a revolt. The real Anastasia and the rest of the Romenovs were taken to siberia and killed by a firing squad. Anastasias body turned up missing and some believe she survived the event, but she has never been found (allthough alot of people have cliamed to be her so they could get money). There is no Demitri, there is no "grandmother of anastasia" (or any surviving family member) and there is no happy ending!

Ok, now that thats out of the way I agree with Princessoflove: there is very little resemblance.
*Rant*
On a side note, I'd like to say that I hate how disney gives everything a happy ending and screws the facts in the process. Pocohantas was about 10 and was never in love with John Smith. She married another Englishman named John Rolf, when to England, and died of smallpox. Not a happy ending. In the original Cinderella, her step sisters mutilate thier feet so it fits in the slipper. Never saw that in the movie.
*end rant*

Re: Zelda = Anistasia?

I looooove the movie Anastasia! But I don't think they really relate, the relations are too general. Plus theres alot of different things too, Zelda didn't start thinking she was an orphan then find out she was royalty, she knew all along.

I never thought Pocahantas and Cinderalla were actually real people. How did the stepsister figure mutilating the girl's feet would work? Wouldn't the prince be able to tell there was something wrong with her feet?

Back then, I'm pretty sure that hygine wasn't a big issue.

Anyways, Antistasia only bears genral resemblance to OoT. Though enough to be an influence.

Wait--wasn't the Anastasia movie after OoT? Although I could be wrong. Maybe the creators of OoT were vaguely inspired by the Anastasia mystery, ie princess disappears sort of thing. Or, maybe it was coincidence. Who knows?

Re: Zelda = Anistasia?

Actually, Cinderella is just a fairy tale. I think that not only here step-sisters but many other women in the country mutilated their feet to try to have the glass slipper fit. Reminds me of the true ending to Snow White...

Pocahantas and Anastasia were real though. John Smith and Pocahantas were actually great friends. She did save him from being killed by protecting his head with her body when he was about to be clubbed on a rock.

It's really too bad they don't make animated movies like Anastasia anymore.

Re: Zelda = Anistasia?

Snow White's wicked stepmother was ordered to put on hot iron slippers and dance until she was dead. Full versions of fairy tales and notes about the changes can be found on SurLaLune.

Jeeze, that's worse than mutilating your feet! Wait, no, they're both just as bad!

Re: Zelda = Anistasia?

You're very right, that's pretty cool (even though I don't remember the movie).

The topic wasn't which copied the other, just that they mirror each other, regardless of which one came first.
