There's been a lot of debate on where Hyrule ends and Termina begins. Personally, I think its at the point where Skull Kid turns Link into a Deku Scrub. When you leave that room, the world feels more... Termina-ish. I know that sounds weird, but in playing OoT and MM, Hyrule and Termina have distinctly different atmospheres.

I like the idea of the Rabbit Hole being the portal. When he lands, he is in Termina.

That's what I always thought. I found it weird that some people thought it was the twisted corridor. I never even considered that being the portal.

well i agree about the atmospheres, but i think that the beginning of termina is Clock Tower portal. The area between is like a link, with elements of both.

What? I don't think that was symbolized at all. There are alot of peaceful and happy people in Termina, the giants are rather friendly, .... I mean, pretty much the whole game contradicts that

Well thats not true.

To me when Link fell down a hole with lots of swirly lights I'd count THAT as the portal the twisted corridor doesn't seem like it has much purpose they were in OOT and they were just something to freak you out.

I vote for the dark pit he fell down with the glowing masks (they were probably just there for special effect)

I also think that Link's first step into Termina is when he lands on that Deku Flower after the long drop through the pit.

Still, all the 'rooms' between there and the Clock Tower are very mysterious. For one thing, they all have seemingly bottomless pits...and then there's the twisting corridor, very alike to OoT's Forest Temple. The giant, seemingly metal door that blocks you from getting back into this area later on is also quite odd.

No-one thinks that the Forest Temple's hallways are portals to other worlds. The idea was that they exhibited the powers of the element of forest, the same powers that the Lost Woods had to confuse travelers and children. In fact, those lost children were said to become Skull Kids. Skull Kid in TP has power to control the forest, so it's not a surprise that the lair of MM's Skull Kid would exhibit these same magical properties.

People in the Lost Woods were said to become Stalfos, not Skull Kids.

True, but that area seems to incorporate more Terminan elements than Hyrulian. You also see the petrified Deku in the giant bottomless area.

Navi (on up-C):
"Skull Kid"
"Is this what happens to kids who get lost in the forest?"

Stalfos weren't children when they were lost

I edited the title. However funny it was.

There are two portal-ish areas before you get to Clock Town, which makes me think the area in between might be a gateway between realms. A limbo-like area with a little bit of both worlds.

After you fall down the hole, you exit Hyrule. When you pass through the twisted corridor, you enter Termina.

That's the second possibility I believe in.

Termina may begin after you step out of where HMS is staying, because the 3 day cycle is in effect starting there. I can't recall a place, besides the moon, where time doesn't change.

The Rabbit Hole can be one portal, it transports you from Hyrule to an unknown/unnamed area. If we are following the idea that Termina is the area where the 3 day cycle is in effect, then it makes sense that the place where Link lands after tumbling down the rabbit hole isn't exactly Termina, but just a port or midpoint bridge/passageway between Hyrule and Termina like Daphne(s) said. Fred, Velma, Scoob and Shag agree.

I've pondered this for a while, and seeing as both the pit and the door are both possibilties, I for one say that the portal is the entire area from the bottom of the hole through to the door.

Also, another thing that supports the portal just being the drop.
After beating Majora, in the credits and cut scenes, we see the Deku-Butler kneeling infront of the dead Deku Tree, which is possibly his son. This would mean that the Butler knows where the entrence to termina is. Weird.

The desert where you fight Twinmold could be a part of Termina and if you walk through it you might eventualy enter the Haunted Wasteland, so this might another to get to Termina to Hyrule or vis versa.

Even though it's not exactly the same, there is another thread on Hyrule to Termina passages. You could post there if you'd really like to.

Which one is the real Hyrule to Termina portal?
Daphnes, I'm very aware of this thread's existence. If you've read it you must have seen that I've posted on it four times. My thread's topic was not which passage we see in MM is the real passage, it was proposing that there was no other passage, and that the two ends of the passage are the centers of the respective worlds. That's not the same thing, and has implications for different theories, such as physical constraints on the passage of religious information between Hyrule and Termina. If mods can allow 15 or 20 "which game do you hate the most" threads to run concurrently I really don't see why my thread must be closed.
