How the temples were used prior to OOT?
Well, i know that all the temples were used for the worship of spirits. I am wondering, what do you think the various rooms were used for? I know they were designed by the game creators to be a dungeon enviorment, but maybe we can have some fun anyways.

They were most likely used as the worship point for a certain group of people. Maybe the Sages resided there.... Who knows.

This has made me think about this too. The shadow temple may have been a place where the dead of hyrule were taken for a funeral before being buried in the graveyard.

The Shadow Temple was "built with the flesh and bones of Hyrule's evil dead", as told in the great Nintendo Power's Official The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Players Guide. The Spirit Temple was created by Gerudo architects, and the Water Temple was created as a site of worship for the Zoras.

and the fire temple was built to BBQ your friends whenever you feel like it. or if you want to play long jump on the bridge it's also ok.
yeah that got me thinking, how does gerudos get to the spirit temple?? they need the eye of truth!! they may be thieves and all that, but there's like HOW MANY OF THOSE in the game???  |

oh yeah right. walking blindly in a sandstorm.
and if the temples are for worshipping the whatever they worship, why are there traps and stuff in the temple??? to kill the people when they are putting on some sort of ceremony?? hey Ganondorf was the one who put monsters and traps in the temples right??? when link was young saria hang out at the forest temple entrance, and then saria discovered there were monsters in there 7 years later. |

Re: How the temples were used prior to OOT?
Heres what I think:
Forest Temple : Used by the Kokiri to worship the forest sage. Fire Temple : Used by Gorons to worship the fire sage Water Temple : Used by Zoras to worship the water sage Shadow Temple : used by the Sheikah(sp) to worship the shadow sage Spirit Temple : Used by the grudos to worship the Spirit sage. Temple of time : to hide away the master sword, seal the door to the sacred relm and used by the Hylians to worship the sage of light. As for the rooms I think that the higher th person is in their races society the deeper into the temple they go.

no, i dont think they are meant to have a meaning. they are just put into the game for you to complete.
about the gerudo, they have tried to get to the spirit temple, (they have flags) i'm not sure how nabooru got to the temple, but, mabey it has somthing to do with the magic carpet guy (doubtful they dont like men) or mabey it is because she is a sage.

Re: How the temples were used prior to OOT?
Maybe because she's been trained...remember the guy at Kakariko Village? He said that "Only people who train the eye can see the truth these days"(or something like that) and then he said something like "But there was this man living where the well is,but no,he had another way of seeing the truth"...link didn't had to "train the eye" he only got the lense of truth and could see everything...but probably gerudos are trained to see the truth in Hyrule...and yes i'm saying in HYRULE!! remember the gerudos on termina? they can't see you with the stone mask....AT ALL!!

Re: How the temples were used prior to OOT?
I wonder why they made such complicated Temples (well, the game designers needed a reason to make bigger levels, but just bear with me). Here's what I think a Temple should have consisted of:
-Entrance -Shrine Instead, the ancient creators figured, "Why not put in dangerous traps, locked doors, heavy blocks to push, and treasure chests? This way NO ONE ELSE WILL WORSHIP OUR GODS!!! HAHAHAHAHA!"
