legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

just one question, I have a bet running with my brother. He says there is a cartridge available for the nintendo 64 to play oot mq. I donīt believe this, reconcidering iīve never heard of it on the nintendo 64. Iīve betted 100 euros on it. Really no joke, but i want to make sure iīm right. So my question:

Is there, or is there not an official Nintendo 64 Cartidge of Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, Master Quest.

(excuse me for posting in n64 forums, but itīs about n64, is it not?)

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

Wikipedia :
Quote:
Ura Zelda (which roughly translates as "Another Zelda") was announced as a Nintendo 64DD expansion disk for use in conjunction with Ocarina of Time. It was designed so that the original Ocarina of Time cartridge would be plugged into the main Nintendo 64 console while the Ura Zelda expansion disk would be plugged into the N64DD that sat underneath the console. Upon the insertion of the Ura Zelda expansion disk the N64DD disk would act as a patch to Ocarina of Time. The title screen would change slightly, adding a Triforce icon and "Ura Zelda" on the bottom of the logo indicating that Ura Zelda was now loaded. The size of this patch was supposedly about 32–64 megabytes, and due to the smaller maximum size of Nintendo 64 cartridges, the game could not otherwise be released on a cartridge.
Apparently it's a disc.

I don't belive there is a cartrige for OoT MQ. I know there is MQ for GCN, but I have never once heard of one for N64.

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

there is a ROM for 64 emulators, but maybe it was changed from gcn to n64 format.
At least I've never seen the cartridge.

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

I'm pretty sure it was originally made for the N64DD (Disk Drive) It wouldn't be a cartridge but a disk. So my vote is going towards it not being a cartridge.

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

ok, so these 100 euroīs are as good as mine, i donīt know about the n64dd, but if you people say itīs a disk drive, i assume itīs not published on a cartridge, as my brother said. but i have heard of some people reprogramming n64 cartridges, so there could be some cartridges going around somewhere with oot,MQ on them. but as i said before, it was a bet for only the ORIGINAL CARTRIDGE, so any own made cop doesnīt count.

BTW: Is anyone sure of his statement???

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

No, there isn't. OoT/MQ was only released as that pre-TWW thing (Or something like that).

There is an OoT gold cartridge, though, but it's not any different than the grey cartridge.

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

Master Quest was originally supposed to be this game called 'Ura Zelda', which was supposed to be released for the N64 Disk Drive system. It was supposed to be a revamped version of OoT with more characters, more items, and new temples, but they never really finished production so they just made it with more challenging temples and released it for Gamecube. So no, there was never a Master Quest cartridge for the N64.

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

Thanks for all reply's to clear up my thoughts about it. Not only have i earned 100 euro's, but i've also made my bro. look bad
Thanks again.

What i've read somewhere, don't know where anymore, is that the n64 dd is only compatible with the japanese versions of n64 and not with the european versions. Can someone clear up my mind about that one??

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

Well both of you are correct. He is correct because it is for N64, but you are correct because it's not a cartridge, it's a disk.

Here's the story.

Nintendo wanted to keep the 64 popular, but everyone wanted to play game's that are on disk's so Nintendo
made the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive. Since OoT was a big hit, Nintendo transfered it to the DD as a remixed version for People who wanted a challenge. It was only released in Japan because it did so poorly, Nintendo never released it into the U.S. When the Wind Waker was in development, People who Pre-ordered it before a certain Date would get a free bonus disk that had the original OoT & Ura Zelda Which, In America, is called OoT:MQ. Then it was released as it's own individual game.

Re: legend of zelda: ocarina of time, master quest

I don't really know if there was a master quest for N64.
Perhaps this is out of the topic, but if I got to choose between Zelda OOT, and Zelda OOT MQ, I would probably choose the original oot. Actually, the only difference i noticed with MQ, was that there where more enemies. And that's not so fun, I think. That was what I noticed.

Quoted for truth. Roms and piracy talk are not permitted. Please review the rules if you're confused.

Also, I don't believe there is a cart. for the master quest.
