The piece of heart that can be missed is the one from the Fishing Pond. If you catch the 10 pounder as Child Link, but do the glitch that gets you the Golden Scale instead, then it overrides the Heart Piece for good.

I found that uber annoying because you need the golden scale but I tend to go around near the end of the game when I have all the items to get heart pieces. I always miss it so I have 19 hearts and 3 heart pieces instead of 20 hearts and no heart pieces >.<

Where is the sinking lure? I've spent days trying to find it but I just can't! Can you just walk over and pick it up like rupees or do you have to cast at it?

Oh my god I sound like such a noob.

Re: Official N64 Zelda Help Thread

You are not a noob, the sinking lure is very difficult to catch! I myself have only ever caught it twice. I believe you also need to catch a fish above 10 lbs before the sinking lure becomes available. There are three places that the sinking lure is hidden: In between the rocks in the pond, in the cat's tail brush in the pond, and in the source of running water to the pond. When you do find it, do not show it to the shopkeeper! He will say that the fish you caught with the sinking lure is illegal, and it will stay that way. You will have to find the sinking lure anew each time you play the game, or exit and enter the fishing pond, for that matter. I hope I've helped and not confused!

Re: Official N64 Zelda Help Thread

The Sinking Lure is available every time you enter the pond, whether you have caught any fish before or not. Before casting with it, you can talk to the fisherman when you first get the sinking lure and he will say it is fine to use afterwards.

Yes, But do I have to cast at it to obtain it or can I just walk up to it to pick it up (like rupees)?

PS: Thanks for the help, SevenYears and Love_of_zelda!

Yes, you just walk to it and pick it up like a rupee, there are three locations, I just don'y remember what they are. You can't see it though, but when you get to it you'll automatically pick it up.

Re: Official N64 Zelda Help Thread

These tips are for doomender. Alot of people find the horse race in mm alot harder than the one in oot and thats understandable but I have only two tips. First stay on the inside of the track don't go to the left stay on the right. Second don't use up all your carrots they take ages to recharge if you use them up.

Same as lord of hunters, but if you get the chance, you can shoot them to slow them down for a bit.

You have to catch a fish over 20 lbs if I'm not mistaken.

U have to catch the 20 pounder which is located at the deepest center of the pond next to the log in the pond.

For those of u who cant find the sinking lure, the locations are,

by the stream that flows into the pond

the rocks in the pond near the giant log

near the tall grass sticking up in the pond

although, the only place I've ever really found the sinking lure was by the rocks in the pond near the giant log. Just run around each rock and you should find it =)

And with the horse race in MM

shooting them with arrows helps a bunch

not running into the trees

jumping over the large patches of dirt(running around them will take up a lot of time)

Using almost all of your carrots except 2(if you run out, your pretty much screwed)

Abd getting ahead of them at the very very beggining!

"Quick Spin?"

What is the best technique for performing a "quick spin"?

Yes, I know the instructions say to rotate the joystick once then swing your sword, but all I ever end up doing is spinning around like an idiot then swinging my sword afterwards. I know it has to do with timing, but I swear I have tried this umpteen billion times and I have yet to make it happen even once.

Now, I have done a quick spin before, but it was when I wasn't intending to do it....and I usually end up saying "Whoa! I did it! But how???"

Keep rotating the control stick, even after pressing B.

I also had this problem. I just held down B for Link to charge his sword and spin. It takes some magic, but it's quite small in comparision to what the Light Arrows take.

Re: Official N64 Zelda Help Thread

Problems. I sound like a noob here.

Problem #1: I read a walk through of the gerudo training ground. But i screwed it up at one point. I know there are more keys than the 7 mentioned.
Anyone know where I find them?

Problem #2: I beat ganon in his tower. then I beat him in his pig form.
I sat through the credits but at the THE END Screen, it doesn't allow me to continue. What do I have to do there?

RE: Quick Spin

No that isn't what I mean...I'm trying to do the repeated quick spins thing like the person does in this video below:

YouTube - Zelda: Speed Killing Boss BONGO BONGO in 21 secs (Boss 7/10)

Does anybody have any idea how he is doing this?
