Re: Prononce it right

I pronounce Majora as "Ma-jo-ra" (mah-joe-rah) same goes for Rito which I pronounce as "Ri-to" (ree-toe). Probably because of Japanese being my first language, these are how they are prounced using Japanese pronounciation.

Re: Prononce it right

I pronounce Majora Mah-joe-rah, I sometimes pronounce Saria a few different ways either Sar-ee-a or Sa-ree-a, I like Sa-ree-a. Is that even the right way to say it? No one ever told me.

Re: Prononce it right

I don't know how some people can mispronounce Majora.... It's sounds like it spelled! No it's not May-jore-ah, or Ma-jaw-ka (there's no k :rolleyes, it's Ma-jor-ah.

Nuff said.

Re: Prononce it right

I always pronounced Rito as "ree-toe". Majora is "ma-jor-ah". I pronounce deku as "dee-que" (I don't know if that is how you pronounce it but some of my friends say "deck-ooo" which is cool but I only call it "dee-que" like dairy queen obreviated). Goron = "gor-on" and Zora = "zor-ah". And this is a sort of strange topic yet I like it.

Re: Prononce it right

I've always pronounced deku as "Dee" (as if you are saying the word deed without the second "d") and "Coo" (as in saying cool without the "l") Dee-coo. I actually used to pronounce it dookie when I first played the game. Here's how I think others should be said:

Ocarina - Oh-Kuh-Reen-uh

Goron - Gore-on

Zora - Zore-uh

Majora - Muh-jore-uh

Re: Prononce it right

Nah...that's not too bad...

The worst is people who can say Hyrule (Hi Rule) but instead of saying Hylians (Hil ee ans) correctly, they say it Hi lee ans.

Re: Prononce it right

Actually I don't pronounce it as "dee-que
" anymore. Now I pronounce it as "dee-coo". I pronounce Navi as "nay-vee" and Saria as "sa-ree-ah. I pronounce Hyrule as "hi-rool" and Hylian as "hih-lay-in" (the hi is not as you say hi to somebody but as like the first part of hick).

Re: Prononce it right

The correct pronunciations of Hyrule and Hylian are

"High-rule" and "high-lee-in". At least, that's how they pronounced them in the cartoons and whanot.

Perhaps Mercutio would tell us... I've got the impression that Japanese phonics are more trustworthy and less likely to be spelled different from how they sound.

Re: Prononce it right

Since we read what the characters say in the games we have to fugure it out. We might not know it and be saying a forth of the made-up words in the games wrong.

I've always thought Hylians was pronounced High-lee-ins, so is it supposed to be H-i-lee-ins?
