Dark Link?

I just had a question......
I'm not sure how you were supposed to beat Dark Link in the Water Temple in Oot. I just feel as though i didn't do it right. I beat him, but it doesn't feel like i did it right.

Well, I hit him with the Megaton Hammer, he disappeared, and came up behind me. I turned around and did it again. He ended up behind me again. And so on and so forth. It doesn't feel right. It was........too easy.

So did I do it right?

I don't know. I beat him by stocking up on fairies and then slashing madly at him until he died.

I know someone else who says they beat him by using Din's fire over and over.

I slashed until he jumped onto my sword, and then if you time it right, you can hit him instead of him hitting you. The second time I just used the hammer and Din's Fire though.

I just used the master sword for a few minutes, though he does take quite a toll on your health that way.

Probably me since that was the only way I found to beat him.

The first time I beat him, it involved me using my sword, losing a ton of health (and possibly fairies), and beating him only after a long fight. The other times I did it, I used the Megaton Hammer to just get Dark Link out of the way.

Well you used one of the alternative methods. Since he can only counter sword attacks, the hammer is a "cheating" ( no flame war please) method because he cant counter it BECAUSE he doesn't have a megaton hammer. Dins fire is also helpful. He CAN be defeated with the sword, its just difficult. If your going to have a sword duel with him, DON"T stab, because he jumps on your sword and gets a free hit on you (you cant move while hes on you sword)

Megaton Hammer? Are You kidding!? Of course you did it right. That's how I do it. There is no wrong way, unless...that is...if you..DIE!!!

i'm with mini link theres no wrong way unless u die but everyway varries in differculty & trust me i did it the hardest way 1st & i challage anyone to do what i did again. note this i'd say is impossible unless ur've finished oot a good 7 times. I bet dark link onyl using my sword without getting hit now i'd like someone to find a harder challage hahah

Din's Fire Plus a Green potion = NO HITS!

huh i could do that eazy with the sword u got to get close & it's near impossible to hit him plus din fire always hits & hurts him even when hes defending ur got to try somthing harder than that .

How do you use the sword and NOT get hit!? I could never do that! How did you do it?

1st don't stab when u stab he jumps on ur sword & hits u thats 1 way to loss & u just don't slash or he'll do the same thing & end up hiting ur sword & canceling the attack. there 1 thing u never!!!!! do if u want to do this u don't jump slash or he'll dodge & do it 2 u faster than it take to get up again the rest is a matter of not z targeting & hiting him on angles not head on that way u have a chance of hitiing him & he can't always block it (note while u have ur sword out he won't attack u freely he will only couter & defend) good luck to all who try my challage .

twilight link ur way of killing him gives u less chance of being hit as when u use the megaton hammer.ur way is the eazyist way ever of killing him because ur inviserble while casting dins fire.

Seems like everyone effectively answered your questions, though. The megaton hammer is incredibly powerful and very hard to defend against. A lot of times there are special combinations like these for bosses which really make them uber-easy. Go back and defeat Dark Link with bombs if you like, haha :0P'
