Masks

What did everyone think of the Masks system in MM?

What was your favourite transformation mask?

Favourite normal mask?

Also, finally, did anyone think the Giant's mask was a peice of crap seeing as you can only use it in one room?

I thought the mask system was great, and added something to the OoT formula without actualyl changing a winning system. It was cool and helped distinguish itself.

My favourite transformation was Zora (Mikau), he had great abilities like the electric sheild.....but the Deku Link LOOKED the coolest :p

I usually wear the Buuny Hood all the time if I'm in normal Link form, walking withotu it seems sooooooo slow in comparison.

And I thoguth the Giant;s mask was a load of crap.

Re: Masks

The mask system was fun, but I wouldn't like to see it come back as it was a fun little MM thing.

Goron Link was my favourite transformation, if only for the roll attack.

Bunny Hood was also my favourite non-transformation mask. Plus it was one of the few with a practical use once you got it.

Giant's Mask was annoyingly pointless, but so where so many of the other masks such as the Couple's Mask and the Postman's Hat.

Re: Masks

mask system was awesome and all.

Fierce Deity was my favorite mask transformation as it finally let you have sense of alot of power for once.

Best non-transformation was probably the bunny Hood. Lots of speed = good.

Giants mask was not pointless, i mean dude if you could wear that outside of the battle, you could get across termina in like 20 steps or something.

Re: Masks

The masks rocked.
I was more fond of the Zora mask than the other 2 really... it was fun hearing the 'wak wak wak' as Link ran XD!

My favourite 'normal' mask was the... Bremen March one!
But I also liked the Bunny Hood... o_o'

Re: Masks

The mask system was a great installment to the game but I also would not like to see it come back as its return would not only diminish the originality of the new game but it would also give me the message that Nintendo is running out of ideas for their games. I am content with Majora’s Mask being the only one with its precious mask system.

My favorite transformation mask would defiantly have to be the Deku Mask. I love how the thing runs and how its hood is almost the same size as Link himself! Two other pluses about the Deku mask is; one, the fact that it has the best normal attack. The spinning attack is the only one that you can use while moving and unlike the Goron punch it is considered a sharp edge not a blunt attack; and two, flying. Flying with the Deku link is so fun. I especially love going to Snowhead and taking the flower at the top of the dungeon all the way down.

My favorite non-transformation mask is the Blast Mask. Not only could it let one say, “Look I have a bomb on my face!” but it eliminated the need for me to buy an item in the shop every time I restarted time. Yes, everyone likes the bunny hood (Just thought I needed that).

Re: Masks

since MM was a giant side quest, it was amazing to see the side quests in the sidequest. The masks were and ingenoious component (ok a little excited). I had TOO much fun getting all the masks over and over again (multiple play throughs). To me the zora form was fun and cool looking. My favorite mask (normal) had to be the couples mask because it was soo da$# hard to get (the firwst time). despite this, challenges are fun and i loved the side quest of Kafei within the game. And yes the giants mask was pretty dumb but the point that it specialized for that dungeon was a cool idea. After the imagination ran wild, i got upset that we could like use it in TErmin (i was like 7)

lol thats what i feel about MM and the masks

The Giant's Mask was the tool used to defeat the boss. So what if you can only used it in one room...

Why would it be a load of crap?

Re: Masks

dunno, it seemed like they just thought they *had* to put a mask there as the previous 2 bosses needed a transformation to beat them.

Re: Masks

It wasn't that i like the mask system so much as I enjoyed having some things to search for. and cmon, doing a side-quest for a mask is way more rewarding than doing one for a 4th or 5th of a heart piece. And i'm partially fond of MM mainly becasue it brought back the happy mask man. I think it might be a great idea to sort of make games with other fun zelda characters as secondary people

oh and fav mask: mail man hat
fav transformation: zora
Giant mask: waste of time.

Re: Masks

I liked the masks a lot. I would not let my self beat the final boss until I had them all so I could use The Fierce Deity's mask. That had to have been my favourite. I just wish you could use in places other than temple boss fights.

EDIT: I forgot to answer about the Giants mask, yeah it was kind of gay that you could only use it in one room. Fierce Deity's makse killed that massive centepede faster than the giant's mask anyway.

Re: Masks

The mask idea was really cool. Let you have all kinds of powers, even if some of them were pointless.

My favorite transformation mask would have to have been the Zora's mask. What fun it was to swim really fast! The Fierce Deity was okay, but he wasn't that great.

My favorite normal mask was the bunny hood and the bremans mask. Bunny hood let you run faster! And I loved leading little animals around with music.

Re: Masks

i thought the zora mask was the coolest one, simply for how you can jump out of the water, onto a platform,do a role and then keep on running.
the bunny mask was by far the most useful outside of the dungeons.
i wouldnt have got 100% on the game without the great fairys mask so i have to pick that one too

Re: Masks

The Zora mask gave me an insight into the swimming style of the Zoras. Before I utilised the power of the mask underwater, I had always just assumed that the Zora's swimming style was a kind of upright gliding. Swimming as a Zora was one of the best sensations of fun gaming I have had, especially after being totally facinated with the Zoras in Ocarina Of Time. Yes, the mask system in Majora's Mask was great. As for normal masks, the mask of truth will always be my favourite, because speaking to the gossip stones provides a lot of interesting storyline information.

Re: Masks

The mask system in MM was a great concept that will probably make another appearence in a Zelda game in some shape or form, but when or how is another question.

Out of the five transformation masks the best has to be the Zora Mask. I think a lot of people will agree with this one. Being able to swim quickly to and fro creates lots of puzzle and action opportunities, which I think wasn't fully utalized in the game, but got enough attention to still be the best.

With nineteen other masks left to be picked from, how could someone choose which mask is better than the rest? I don't think that utility should be the only reason to choose what mask is superior to the rest, but usually utility seems to be a much greater factor than other things such as style and the background behind the mask. Sure, we only use the Giant's Mask once during the course of the game, but ever wonder how it came to be? Or even the Keaton Mask, this has to be one of the cooler looking masks in the game, as it resembles and summons the Keatons, a very mysterious race of creatures in the game. However that leaves utility, which is going to be a deciding factor in what mask will be picked to be used most during gameplay, making it memorable, very unlike every other mask in the game. The best example of utility in the game is the Bunny Hood. It is a must to acquire early in the game so travel is much faster and less of a bore. After taking all of these factors into account, the Bunny Hood is still the best mask in the game.

Re: Masks

The mask system in Majora's Mask was an amazing idea in the Zelda series. I thought it was really cool that you had five forms of Link (Normal, Deku, Goron, Zora, and Fierce Deity). My favorite transformation mask would be the Fierce Deity Mask while my favorite normal mask would have to be the bunny hood.

Re: Masks

I did like the idea of using masks xD My favorite was Fierce Deity I spent 3 years finding a way to get the mask of thruth, I was missing one skulltula but I finally got it and after I defeated Majora's Mask without using my bow *-* I knew that mask was meant for me. Bunny Hood's the other mask I adore hehehe and I find it really nice that they used something new... And I didn't like the fact that i had to get ALL masks to get fierce deity ¬¬ (Although I do understand the reason)

Re: Masks

I can't say that the mask system (to me) was a beautiful, awe-inspiring mechanism of greatness that makes me lose control of my bowels, but I admit, it was neat receiving masks from people based on their wishes, moods, and lives.
I'd have to say my favorite mask was...Mikau's mask. Not that I liked the Great Bay Temple--load of tosh in my opinion--but I loved to swim at insanely high speeds through gold rings.

Oh, and Oni, that was an unbelievably deep answer for this topic. (And interesting.)
^.^
