Re: Stone Tower of Babel: Why Termina was Doomed
The hand is pointing to the sky for a much more obvious reason. The temple already is linked to the sky in the game, Link goes through a portal to the sky to fight the boss. The system of inverting the temple to jump into the sky is the entire purpose of the temple, so this sky realm Link travels to is clearly a much more likely reason for having the hand point to the sky.
The stone blocks Link jumps across also have a much more obvious in-game significance that seems to be ignored here. Each stone block is controlled by a switch. Link needs to activate each switch by placing an empty body of himself on that switch. Each stone therefore depicts an empty stone body. The triforce is on the bottom so that when the temple is inverted by the holder of the light arrows, the holder can step across those three triforces to reach the inverted temple. The light arrow is a gift of the goddesses and the triforce a symbol of their power and their messenger.

Also has any one seen the hand shaped torch in the stone tower (which is right next to the entrance to the stone tower temple), it looks like someone giving the middle finger. |

Re: Stone Tower of Babel: Why Termina was Doomed
Should be. The semester just ended so I have much more time on my hands now. I've written most of it, but there are still a few sections left to write and I'm trying to make sure they come out okay. And then I want to get feedback from a few people before I start spreading it around online.
Anyone think I should lock this thread and start a new one with the newer article? Edit: The article is finished, and is now in the revising stage. It's very long.

Re: Stone Tower of Babel: Why Termina was Doomed
Alright, let me begin by saying that this theory is... well, awesome. It's been a couple (maybe more) years since I last touched Majora's Mask, and this just adds a lot of depth to what I thought was a simple game. A lot of underlying connotations to a series that is, rightly so, rich with history (or so I'd like to think).
Allow me to expand on a couple things. Termina being in a completely different time stream than Hyrule - absolutely plausible. It's very possible that for each year passed in Hyrule, 10, 100, or even 1000 passed in Termina. This would explain quite a few things, such as how much took place between Skull Kid obtaining the Mask and Link entering Termina. This also leads into another theory in which OoT actually ended up with two dimensions - one where Link had defeated Ganondorf, and another where he hadn't. Remember, at the end of OoT, Link regresses those seven(7) years, leaving Ganondorf in the future (a completely plausible happening) and takes off for Navi. It's likely that Ganondorf, from Link's childhood, was allowed to redo all he had done and once again claim Hyrule as his own, turning it into a land of evil. Hence, folks, the flooding that takes place. Link wasn't in Hyrule this time to save it, he was in Termina, working to save that land. So, for all intents and purposes, we could very well have a continuum(?) split of events. Also, on the issue of if the temples or Clock Tower was built first - it's very likely Clock Tower was built first. Each Giant was a guardian deity of sorts, and they seemed to coalesce at the center of Termina where all the different races lived. It's likely that when Giants left the lands (taking exactly 100 paces north, south, west, and east) that Clock Tower was built to revere where they had taken off from, and each of the temples were built 100 (Giant) paces from the Clock Tower by each race, to revere which Giant they had loved. (Phew, long post.) With that being said, it's possible this is what led the architects of the Stone Tower to do as they did. Remember they had untold years of torture at the Imp's (Skull Kid's) hands, and (in my mind) it's completely likely or possible that the Goddesses of the Triforce were known about and appealed to to remove the Imp. They were silent. So, the people appealed to the Giants, who returned to the land long enough to see the Imp banished to 'heaven'. Oho, suddenly, these Giants are mightier than the silent Goddesses. I'd say screw the Goddesses as well and revere the Giants as Gods myself. Hence, the Stone Tower begins its blasphemy against the Goddesses. Also, the phallic symbols do look a bit like light arrows (this was posted a while back). I've only read to page 10 to this thread, but I felt the need to add input, don't shoot me. D: |

Re: Stone Tower of Babel: Why Termina was Doomed
Very interesting. Ikana was indeed very interesting. I´ve allways thought that. When I was young I belived that the singing female vopice you heard in the background music was Malon or Romani singing somewhere. After that I even started to belive that Princess Zelda was trapped somewhere there singing and trying to be heard. I was very bad at english then and didn´t undaerstand much. Lol,I´m weird!XD

Re: Stone Tower of Babel: Why Termina was Doomed
The new article has finally been completed. Here's the link to the new thread.
Since this thread has grown enormously long and I don't want people to feel obligated to read through it all, please direct further discussion for this thread into the new one I just linked to. I'm amazed that this thread lasted two years and got so many replies and so much attention. My sincere thanks to everyone who read and contributed.

I read on the forums that Majora has both male and female features...

The Idea that the ancient Ikana people built the Stone Tower as a slander of the Architects of Hyrule is indeed a deep and unfathomable story but the main factor is the legendary Fierce Deity Mask the one that Majora had named as "The true Bad guy." personally I think that the people of Ikana Canyon worshipped both the Giants and this "Fierce Deity" but referring to the Legend of Majora's Mask the sailsman said "An ancient tribe used it in their Hexing Rituals." if you try to put 2 and 2 together you can see the real similarities between the Ikana people and this Tribe of Legend but if you stir the new game Twilight Princess into the mix it pulls Majora's Mask into the Idea that the Twili were to ones who used it but the idea of the Canyon People using the Mask in rituals wold explain the whole mess being as how they died out long ago.

Way to bump an old thread. You may want to take that to the new thread on this matter: http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/...oras-mask.html
