Nintendo used the same name twice

I was playing OoT and I just finished rescuing the carpenters in Gerudo's Fortress. When I got to the last carpenter, he said his name was Shiro. Where else have we seen this name? Yes, the soldier you help in MM and get the Stone Mask from. I don't know why I never realized this before, but Nintendo used the same name twice. I find that I haven't seen them do this before. Do you think this was intentional or just coincidence? I think it was just coincidence, but I don't know...

Re: Nintendo used the same name twice

It probably wasn't a coincidince, but I don't think it has any special meaning to it. Nintendo just gaave a minor character from MM the same name as a minor character in OoT, hoping that it would go unnoticed (and it does). They did it on purpose I assume, but I don't think you can start making wile theories about some sort of relation or something.

Re: Nintendo used the same name twice

I just thought this was strange. I thought since it hasn't been noticed, except by me now, I should bring up the subject. I was thinking it sounded like an interesting topic.

Re: Nintendo used the same name twice

Yeah...I did notice that, I think there's someone else in OOT named Shiro too, besides this guy...But maybe I'm just imagining it. ... But I mean people have the same names sometimes, so in Zelda it's possiable too. lol...

Re: Nintendo used the same name twice

It's possible that Shiro is a common Japanese name, like John. I don't know about Japanese much, but it seems likely.

It's also possible that one of the programmer's had a "pet" character named Shiro that they carried through the OoT-MM arc. Remember the carpenter in MM looking at the recruitment poster in Clock Town and muttering "Cowards..."? So there's that little connection going on.

Re: Nintendo used the same name twice

Okay...I still think it is a bit odd that Nintendo only did it once, as far as I know. Apart from Link, Zelda, and Impa (AoL and OoT).

I have a little theory. We'll refer to the two Shiros as Shiro 1 (the carpenter) and Shiro 2 (the soldier). Since the same Link meets two different characters named Shiro, Shiro 1 being in Hyrule and Shiro 2 being in Termina, could this mean the two lands are in the same dimension? In the same world? Think about it. It could also mean that Termina uses the same language and therefore have Hylians. The name Shiro could be of the same language (Hylian). Basically what I'm saying.

It's just a coincidence! Don't revive the "Terminia=parallel world?" debate! It has already been proved and (mostly) accepted that Terminia is a parallel world!
