Weird Poes

In Oot, I was waliking around Hyrule field and I found a rock (one of those big rocks that you use a bomb to blow up), and I tried hitting the rock with a bomb but it didn't do anything, so I hit it with the megaton hammer and a poe appeared and started floating around Link throwing fire at him, and Navi said that the Poe wouldn't go away if you stared at it, and that it wasn't very threatening. The rock is by itself and it is kindof near the Lost Woods entrance (to the right, I think). If anyone knows about this weird poe that I accidentally walk by and have to waste arrows on, please tell me, because I can't figure out what the point of this Poe is. It isn't really like any other Poe.

Aren't those the big poes that you have to hunt on horse back? I think you give them to the poe guy

They point out where Big Poes are. That's all they do. Try riding Epona around the area, and you'll find a Big Poe. I can tell you where they all are, but for a price. I can also tell you the best way to kill them, but again, for a price.

You kill them with arrows while riding on epona.... its kinda obvious

Each regular Poe you find walking around in Hyrule Field as an adult has a Big Poe counterpart in the immediate area.

What I'm talking about isn't a big poe. It's nota small poe eighter, if I remember right

I meant the angle of attack. Duh you kill them with arrows. However, I've managed to L-target a Big Poe before. Not only that, but I'm also pretty sure that I've killed one without Epona. Well, I know I've landed a hit. Many Big Poes can only be killed if you approach from a certain angle. Otherwise, you can't get a clear shot. I do happen to know every location for the Big Poes as well, just so you know.

It's a regular freakin' Poe. Anyone who's roamed Hyrule Field for more than three minutes has likely seen one.

I have roamed Hyrule field for way more than three minutes, and the poe has the look of a regular poe, but he throws fire at Link. Wait a second... the Poes throw fire at Link in the Forest Temple, doen't they? Wait... Do they? I really have no clue. It's been awhile since I beat the Forest Temple, but if they do, could that be like one of the poe sisters, only without all of the attacks?

There's still nothing special about it. It's there to populate Hyrule Field with some kind of enemy, especially once you've captured all ten Big Poes.

They're not related to the Poe Sisters. Any similarities in animation are a result of code recycling.
