Zelda's double in Termina...

I've brought this up a couple times in other threads, but figured it needed its own.

I used to think that Zelda had no double in Termina, but I've been paying pretty close attention lately, and now I'm convinced she does.

I spent last night making a couple screenshots, and this is my result... Pretty interesting, eh? Please look at the full-sized file to see what I mean.

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

Hmm. Sorry but I really don't see a resemblance. Apart from the eyes... which is all you can see of Sheik anyway.

EDIT: PS,
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Sheik was a disguise used by Zelda to hide from Ganondorf, he was never a real person in the game,
therefore he should not have a Termina counterpart. Unless Zelda's counterpart disguised herself as Kafei Which would make Kafei and Anju lesbians....

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

Well, equal sized screenshots would be a great help .

Anyway, in reality, it's more than likely just the developers reusing textures, game's aren't cheap to make afterall.

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

Exactly. That's why all the Armos in OoT (and probably MM) had the Goron symbol on them.

I don't think Zelda has a Termina counterpart. If she did, we'd have seen it at some point.

Strawman alert! Put that scarecrow song away!

I realize that Shiek is a disguise. However, we're in an alternate dimension. Who's to say that in a world where so much is the same, only different, that Shiek is not more than a disguise? I am by no means saying that Kafei is a "lesbian".

We're basically in a situation where the world we know is warped in untold numbers of ways. I mean, Malon splits into two people (neither of which sing), Ingo into three (one of which *does* sing), and Link into four (or possibly more, depending on how you look at it). Ruto's gone from princess to rock star, the twin witches are innocent old businesswomen, instead of a kingdom we have a democracy, etc. Termina is by no means an exact mirror of Hyrule, so who's to say there can't be differences in the people who are represented in both places? What's so bad about implying that "Zelda" is a *straight* guy in Termina? (Nobody's saying that Hyrule's Zelda doesn't like guys either.)

However, if Termina is supposed to give us insight on what the characters in Ocarina of Time are about, this gives some idea of how Link sees Zelda as a person. After all, as the gossip stone said, Zelda is known to be elegant, but underneath that nun-dress is a tomboy. That's not a jab at Zelda's gender or anything, but simply an expression of her personality. I get the feeling Link sees Zelda as "one of the guys".

Although I need to get a screenshot, if you look at it, "Shiek" also looks identical to Zelda, besides the fact that this disguise makes Zelda (temporarily) male. There is a mask over her mouth, but the face shapes, eye shapes, eyebrows, nose, etc. are the same, just like with Kafei. If this is merely reusing textures, then they reused much more than the textures.

And yes, you can see Shiek's nose, eyes, eyebrows, facial shape, etc. That's far more than just the eye visible.

I will make bigger screenshots of Shiek (and hopefully Zelda) later. But I haven't been home as much lately.

I MUST agree with you, there are many 'mirrors,' but all of them are warped, like one of those funhouse mirrors...

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

I've honestly always thought of Zelda's double being the Deku Princess *prepares for people to throw stones at me*. Just stating the obvious here: They are both princesses, and they both get kidnapped. Heck, even look at the Deku Butler, he sorta looks like the Minister Potho from tMC (yes, I know tMC and MM are two different games, but I'm associating them both because the two look alike, and they both work for the King).

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

No.. sorry I still think this is reading too much into it. Majora's mask just re-used old models to save time, that's all the parallel dimension thing is about.

If there was any link between Zelda and Kafei, it would have been a lot more obvious, like it was with every other double.

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

You know what would have been funny in Termina. If Nintendo had a mirror character for Ganondorf! Make him some kind of travlssman bum outside of the city in a tent! But that may be too dramatic and in appropiate to have a main character in Termina such as Zelda. But since Twinrova was in Termina as Potion shop owners, I wounder what Ganondorf's ocupation would lie in the Mirror world?

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

Lol, wow...so...you are telling me...that Zelda's counterpart...is a guy? Oh and not just a guy, but a man in his probably mid to late twenties who is engaged to an innkeeper, and then turned into a 10 year old? honestly I see no resemblense in that whatsoever. We go from fair, blonde princess, to a purple-haired man who waschanged into a child by a skull kid with magic powers. Zelda has no counterpart in MM. As a matter of fact, none of the triforce wielders do! Do you think that maybe the triforce makes you immune to having a counter-part in another demension?

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

I say all the triforce weilders had counter parts. They where friends and where killed in Ikana when it got destroyed. Makes sense dosen't it

No I dont not have any information to back this up.

Lol, brilliant! This man is a genius! Actually that is quite a possibility, but I really doubt it...unless...They were the Ikana king and his two guards! Yes! Zelda could have been the rounder one that liked to make grunty sounds, Link could be the thin, annoying one, and Ganandorf could have been the guy with power and could take off his head and have it chase little boys running around in green tunics! It makes perfect sense now! Hehe, sorry...That is an interesting thought though.

You do realize there were gorons in MM right, thus constituting a use for that symbol.

I agree with Polychrome, I think it is very likely he is the parallel of Zelda. They don't have to have huge similarities in every sense, Zelda's true persona is that of a tomboy anyway. It's very possible for these strange discrepincies to happen. I don't think the parallels were supposed to resemble their other too much anyway because it is supposed to be a different world.

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

I'd have to agree with WaterBuffalo, in that Deku Princess is the most plausable double for Princess Zelda, what with them being princesses, being kind of tomboys, both wanting to "save the world" (Zelda sent Link to get the Spiritual stones, and Deku, I'm pretty sure, went to Woodfall, to try and stop the poison or something, I havent played MM for a while), and both being kidnapped and saved by Link, drawing some major parallels between the two characters.

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

I still think that Kafei more closely parallels Link. Same hairdo. Same figure. Same transformation from adult to child, and, seemingly, vice-versa. Same dangerous quest to save mystical artifacts. Same utter devotion. Same bravado. Same mask.

Re: Zelda's double in Termina...

yea, gotta say- the Kafie lookin like Shiek/zelda thing seems a bit bogus........... the similarities are: Red eyes. Different coloured hair, cloths, skin tone etc......

That said, there arent too many people in the zelda world with red eyes.....

Unhappy

I hate to break it to u guys but... I'v been thinking about the doubles lately, and then i found out they had to make MM in a year... The reason everyone has doubles is because they were rushed to finish the game, and didnt have much time to design new characters.
