Navi: the beloved and invaluable friend

Quote:
The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask's Prologue

In the land of Hyrule, there echoes a legend.
A legend held dearly by the Royal Family that tells of a boy...

A boy who, after battling evil and saving Hyrule,
crept away from that land that had made him a legend...

Done with the battles he once waged across time, he embarked on a journey. A secret and personal journey...

A journey in search of a beloved and invaluable friend.

A friend with whom he parted ways when he finally fulfilled his heroic destiny and took his place amonth legends...
It clearly says that Navi is the beloved friend and not Skull Kid...
It also says that MM is after OoT...
After Link saved Hyrule and returned the Master Sword, he went back 7 years...
Navi had finished her mission, so she left...
Link started searching for her...
And so he found Clock Town!

It makes sense, doesn't it?

Re: Navi: the beloved and invaluable friend

Yes, I think it was Navi, as well. Seeing as Navi left, and Skull Kid wasn't a beloved and invaluable friend. I don't think there's any other explanation. I always thought it was Navi who he was looking for. That also makes it seem kinda ironic that he got to Termina and found Tatl (another fairy who aids him on his quest).

Re: Navi: the beloved and invaluable friend

Maybe Link was actually looking for Midna who is really Ganondorf in disguise because Ganondorf disguised himself as Impa because he wanted the true secrets of the master sword (like the ring for sauron, ganondorf made it) to be hidden. This explains why we see Ganondorf in Wind Waker with a sword in his head, they are meant to be one and when Link leaves Ganondorf explodes with power and goes into 8 different timelines.

True fact, I heard it from Miyamoto in our secret conference.

Edit: Sorry, I'm majorly hyped up on easter eggs. (In Australia, all easter eggs are chocolate and I've had a couple kilograms today.)

Re: Navi: the beloved and invaluable friend

I've always interpreted the sentence "A journey in search of a beloved and invaluable friend." that Navi was, or is, Link's beloved friend. Link hardly knew Skull Kid, since the only thing he did to Skull Kid was teaching him Saria's Song in OoT.

MM is, of course, after OoT. I think that conclusion has been confirmed several times

Honestly, I doubt many people really believe it was skull kid. (Navi leaving at the end of the game was obvious sequel fodder.)

Re: Navi: the beloved and invaluable friend

There are only really a few choices to who that friend was. Navi being the most plausible choice, but I just thought maybe he was looking for Saria. It is never stated where she goes at the end of the game, since they are back in time, Saria should be in the forest. Why else would Link be searching in the lost woods, if not to look for Saria? Think about it, Saria helped in his historic journey and who's to say he wasn't looking for her?

...Did I just make up a theory? That's odd.

...Link doesn't even know who the hell Midna is in MM..so I don't see what you're getting at...

I always thought it was Navi...It clearly states that Navi left...There are also many clues at the beginning cutscene of MM...I think Nintendo should clean this up by telling us, "Yes you guessed it!!It was Navi!!!", It would just be more easier than arguing about it any longer...

If he was looking for Saria, wouldn't he just play her song and have a good old chat? I guess maybe she becomes inaccessable when she flys away with the other sages at the end.

This topic isn't even suggesting its navi...Either you're in the wrong thread or you're trying to bring in something new...Its true he would just play his ocarina...Even after she was a sage when you beat forest temple you were still able to talk to her.

I'm pretty sure the post you responded to was intended to be satire. Unless Ganondorf really is crossdressing and attempting to pose as Impa, but last I checked, he wasn't that type.

I don't think Nintendo would just give us the answer. It's really not that important, well important for us to know in order to play the game. Besides, they already gave us enough clues that would lead to Navi.

I have a question. Why does Navi leave Link at the end of oot? Yea her task is done, but she didn't need to leave. Is it because Link isn't a kokiri, so he doesn't need a fairy? And where does she go?

I always assumed she went back to the Korkiri Forest and became assigned to another Kokiri or went to join the faries in the Lost Woods.

Re: Navi: the beloved and invaluable friend

I would guess that Navi left because this part of Link's life was now over. She was provided to him as a guide for his adventure, but the adventure was finished. He wouldn't be at home with the Kokiri any longer.

If you think about it, the whole of Majora's Mask was a healing journey. Link had been through something crazy, and was expected to go back as if it had never happened. A good number of the friends he made before and during the journey became sages, leaving him mostly alone. Having sudden changes slammed into his life over and over again would be extremely confusing for someone who is mentally a small child. That's bad enough, but he knows who the sages are, and will probably have to go through the whole "abandonment" all over again. I see Navi's leaving as the final straw for him.

So Link goes to find her, trying to regain an ounce of stability in his life. (It's also apparent he's been hanging around the ranch.) He ends up in Termina, and suddenly, he has to restore the stability in everyone else's lives. (The Song of Healing is a metaphor if you think about it.) By "fixing" Termina, he matures a little, and ends up feeling better about his own life. Maybe, it's because he no longer feels so alone in his problems. After that, maybe Link found Navi. Maybe he gave up. I don't think we'll ever know.

Wow if we ever are going to have a Zelda movie (sorry I'm talking about the movie here) it should be about this^^

Poor Link. I see what you mean by healing journey. Not only did Link loose alot of friends, but after all the knowledge he's gained, he would have to keep it to himself since he is the only one who remembers everything (not sure about Zelda though...) Also, Link lost all of his power and use in the world since his destiny has been fullfilled. How could Navi leave at such a gloomy point in his life?

Wait a minute. Since Ganny is sealed away in the sacred realm, I don't think there is any need for the sages to become sages again. There is nothing threatening the temples anymore so there is no need for any of Link's sage friends to leave him.

Re: Navi: the beloved and invaluable friend

You know i never thought about the song of healing like that before. And your right, lots of his friends were Sages, well besides Zelda and Malon, i do think some of the Kokiri missed him, its actualy kind of hints at it, one of the kokiri that guard the exit as a child says something like 'I wondered what ever happend to him...' and the one on your way to the forest temple say "You know somehow you remind me of him". But for the most part, most of his friends were Sages, well i guess you could consider Goron Link as a friend.

Kinda feel sorry for him, after making friends with several people and them being Sages so he really cant just hang with them, and then Navi leaves him.

Wow...That thought never really ocurred to me...I can just imagine it..One day you have a bunch of friends and they dissapear!BOOM! I can also imagine how hard it must have been from skipping from a young child straight to a teenager! No experience or anything..the only thing he knew was to kill ganondorf...

That could be why...but I dont know...Link could have defied the orders given to him and stayed in Kokiri forest..I think that would be the first place to look for a friend anyway..
