Link theory

I just made a thread like this but i can't find it.

Well, we all know that link is a hylian but since he is not korkiri, wouldn't that mean he would get turned into a skull kid or one of those other things that they get turned into? also, since he didn't, that would have to mean is at least part korkiri. post how you think he wasn't changed

Re: Link theory

No. The Deku Tree looked after him, and protected him because he knew that when he was brought to him by his mother, that he would one day save Hyrule.

Quote:
One day, to escape from the fires of the war, a Hylian mother and her baby boy entered this forbidden forest. The mother was gravely injured... Her only choice was to entrust the child to the Deku Tree, the guardian spirit of the forest. The Deku Tree could sense that this was a child of destiny, whose fate would affect the entire world, so he took him into the forest."

-Deku Tree Sprout
Ocarina of Time
So there you go. The Deku Tree chose to look after him. He's full Hylian.

well, i still don't see why he would protect link and only link. and that also means the deku tree was sort of (not sure what the word is but it's not violent) becuase he turns other people into skull kids.

Re: Link theory

Well whatever the Deku Tree turns people into (I think it's Skull Kids also, but some people say it's Stalfos...), it's only to protect the forest. And the Deku Tree only chose Link because he was destined to save Hyrule.

Re: Link theory

No no no!

The reason why the other kids turned into Skullkids is because they ventured into the lostwoods. And if you get lost out there you turn into one of them.

Re: Link theory

If that's the case then how come if Link gets 'lost' he automatically returns to Kokiri Forest? (And if you say it's to keep the story going, I'm gonna hunt you down and deck you.)

Well, probably because the Deku Tree is looking after Link, and maybe it's only Kokiri who get turned into Skullkids. Seeing as Link is Hylian, he wouldn't become a Skullkid.

And also... to keep the story going
Sorry, I had to say that! It's true! If Link got lost in the forest and became a Skullkid there would be no more game to play and you'd have to start again . Why does he come back when he dies, also? Same answer.

Re: Link theory

I thought the answer was quite clear. People who get lost in the forest become stalfos. Kokiri, and possibly other children who get lost in the forest become skull kids.

Re: Link theory

Link never gets lost, growing up in the forest im sure he kinda learned how the forest works, he probably marked certin trees to indicate that if he continues that way he may get lost. So when he comes across these markings he backs backs up to the begining.

Also, its only if you get lost as in you dont know your way back. Link obviously knows what he is dealing with. so he is never lost but takes the wrong path that takes him to the begining.(i think each wrong path eventualy takes you to the begining) but yea thats i think he does it.

Also, i think the Deku Tree is kind of protecting him because he knows you are destined to do great things. so maybe the Deku Tree told him that if he comes across certin looking trees he should go back to the begining of the forest.

Re: Link theory

Um... The Kokiri may never leave to forest because if they do, they will turn into skull kids, link obviously didnt get affected at all, because he was hylian, and nothing happens to hylians like that

Re: Link theory

Hmm, perhaps the effect of them becoming skull kids left, after all, Ganon was the source of all evil, and since he was sealed off, maybe they could venture into lands once forbidden hehe guess i just saved myself there

Re: Link theory

I personally think Link couldn't get lost in the Lost Woods and didn't turn into a Skull Kid (or whatever) because he is a wielder of the Triforce. He has the Triforce of Courage, which guided him throughout the forest. Besides, why would a Triforce wielder turn into something he's not (don't question me here for Majora's Mask, I could go all out with that one)? Also, I think the Deku Tree played a role in protecting Link and keeping him safe since he was destined to save Hyrule. Phew! I love being KnowItAllSister (sorry, but I couldn't resist. But I really don't know everything!)

Re: Link theory

maybe part of the curse on the deku tree besides causing him to die maybe he also placed a curse on the kokiris of the forest so if probably they tried to hide the spiritual stone they would die and he would be able to pick it up and everybody knows he cursed the deku tree because he wouldn't give him the emerald.

That's not right, because all of the skull kids live in the forest. Why would a kokiri become a skull kid if he leaves? You are probably thinking of stal children, the skeletons that come out at night when you are a kid. These are just dead soldiers. In MM there is an army of them and it even explains their past, so it's safe to assume that these stal children are also soldiers who died in battle.
