Link's Ancestry

I'm not sure if this has been dealt with before, but I was wondering. In Ocarina Of Time Link is living with the Kokiri. We know that he is not a Kokiri himself. So this means that sometime in the past, Link's parents, relatives ect., must have either abandoned him or left him with the Kokiri. Since OoT is widely regarded as the first in the timeline, we have nothing heard about his ancestors from any of the other games. So, who do you think Link's ancestors were? And why do you think he would have been left with the Kokiri? This is in the N64 forum because it deals with the Link from OoT.

Link was left to the Deku Tree by his parents because of the war that was going on. They didn't want Link to get injured. There are quotes about on how only knights of Hyrule could gain the Master Sword. So it is probable that Link's father was a knight.

There is a lot of mystery with the family of Link. Personally, I don't think we will ever find out about Link's parents (considering there is more then one Link). I don't care really. The story is about Link, and Zelda. That's the way it is, and that's the way it should be.

what Dark Link says is true.

His mother was trying to escape the war, the best option was to seek out the Great Deku tree. The Great Deku true accepted him and looked after him. Shortly after his mom gave Link to the deku tree she died, she was probably injured and tired from the journey.

But thats about all we know about Links parents from OoT.

In one of the Ocarina of Time comic books...

Link's Father was Captain of the guard, and that his father and mother agreed that it was for the best that the mother and Link flee Hyrule. Lter that night there was an attack at the castle and Link's father died trying to protect the king.

The comic books are not licenced by nintendo although nintendo allows them to use there images and names. Anything you read in the comic book has to be taken with a pinch of salt because it is not relible.

it is possible and likely that its the way it kind of happend. although the details might be a bit diffrent. thats how i always pictured it, Links father being a guard or soldier died in battle while Links mother ran for safety.

Well it is a good quesiton, its just the answer cant be fully told untill we are able to get more info.

Well, I learned from A LInk to the Past, that his father died when he went to Hyrule Castle, so there goes his dad, and his mother died fleeing from the battles of Hyrule in the very beginning of OOT, so there goes both of his parents

Just quickly, there are three orders of reliability for information on the Zelda story.

1. Is the game itself, if one game contradicts the other one then an individual assessment has to be done for reliability.
2. Is Game manuals/statements from Nintendo, Game manuals trump statements from Nintendo, but both of them are trumped by the games themselves.
3. Is Manga/TV shows/etc.

So although the OoT comics themselves are not cannon, anything else (save fan fiction) beats them cold, they are, currently, the most reliable sources for OoT's back story, as nothing contradicts them, we can assume that Link's father was in the guard, and that his mother, fleeing form the war between the races, entrusted Link to the care of the Great Deku Tree.

Edit: TheUnknownLink, it is believed that the Links in aLttP and OoT are different Links. Also, during the intro to aLttP, it is Link's uncle, not his father, who dies.

You're thinking of his uncle. And ALttP is defiantly nowhere close to the same era as OOT. The two are very far apart in years.

his ancestors are hylians and the reason why his parents left him with the deku tree was because of the war going on and his mother was mortally wounded and on horse back just before she died she gave him to the kokiri and she died afterwards
