Re: The original Zelda 64 trailer from 1995!

Nice find Tompkins, but if it is from 1995 we're talking 1 to 2 years prior to the N64's release, so it's more than likely a tech-demo from Nintendo.

True, it doesn't mention a specific date - we're more than likely looking at a very early beta build of the game.

Re: The original Zelda 64 trailer from 1995!

Well, I was right. The video was shown at a Japanese convention in mid-1995. It ran of the Super Mario 64 engine, and was made to show off the 64's graphics, and get everyone excited about the next zelda game.

Re: The original Zelda 64 trailer from 1995!

Ah funky! That's a cool video. I always wondered what N64 Link would look like with brown hair.... What enemy is Link meant to be fighting there? And wasn't the N64 released in like 1996 or something? So wouldn't that make this just some thing made up on a regular computer?

Well I found this one from the same site: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Torg4VAtUhc&search=zelda
This the scariest thing I have ever seen.

Maybe there should be a thread specifically for these videos, I don't know if there is or not, but I've noticed a lot of posts about Zelda videos people have found.

LOL! Look out it is the killer dance! I would want to destroy myself if I were Ganon after having to go through that...

And wasn't the first trailer just to show of the 3D engine of the N64?

Re: The original Zelda 64 trailer from 1995!

I got to say, those were some kick ass moves that were done by Link. For some reason, the gameplay seemed a lot more smoother then that of the OOT that we have now. I don't understand why Nintendo didn't add the surreal affect to it. And the reflection that was coming off the enemy’s (Darknut?) armor was a nice affect as well.

The smoothness of that gameplay footage should have defiantly been added towards the game. Other then that, it looked really bad...

Heh. He looks like the original "Plushie-Link", doesn't he?

Well, that is, with many polygons...

As for the live action one...I don't have sound here. Please tell me they aren't doing the Macarena.... *shudder* I could swear that girl dressed up as Zelda has played in something else before though. She looks awfully familiar.

Awsome video, I love how the beta of Link looks, they should make Link look like this in Twilight Princess.

Re: The original Zelda 64 trailer from 1995!

OMFG!!!
That was a girl in the footage. You can't really tell in the beginning, but around the end you see a close up and you can see that Link's chest, which way too pushed out for a regular man's chest.

Re: The original Zelda 64 trailer from 1995!

Nintedo must have had a cross dressing fetish, (with the whole girl-dressed-as-link thing) Because in the commercial for the secound game, has a man dressed as an old lady, and a little girl dressed as link. Hilarious stuff!

Re: The original Zelda 64 trailer from 1995!

I remember seeing that trailer on CBS in 1995. I remember when I first saw that I was like "dang... this is going to be so awesome!" But now it's no big deal. Man that seems so long ago. Ahhh.... memories!

I've never even seen this before. O.o I was curious of what Link's hair would like like brown as well. Boy, has technology improved so much since then.
