The Magic Earings

Has anyone noticed that when in Adult Link's form in Oot, Link has earings on, (just walk backwards into a corner and turn Link around) but when in Child form he hasn't got any earings? Where did he get them from? If anyone else has found things like this in Zelda games tell me because I want to see more of them.

Why do you want to see more of them? I have seen way too many topics like this... but hell, I guess I'll play along. Yes, I noticed that. Where did they come from? Nobody can answer that, except maybe Nintendo. Perhaps when he was sealed in the Sacred Realm for 7 years he was given them by Zelda as a "message". Dunno, just sort of a random idea. But as for others, I haven't seen any other strange things such as that. And if I have, I've probably just not cared enough to remember.

Actually, yeah. And have you ever wondered how Link's costume suddenly got bigger as he grew up? Who...

If you're going to say that, then we can all ask "What about his shoe size? Didn't he have to go to the bathroom? Where did the tights come from?" Those are details that normally people don't need to expand on because I think it would get really boring explaining everything.

Well i guess we'll just have to say rauru is a petafile jk jk lol well maby i'm not since he was the only 1 with him while he was sleeping..........(shudders)

Well, there is a gigantic golden thing called the triforce in the Zelda universe, so I'm just going to say that it was the magic of the chamber, because in the Hylian culture, wierd stuff happens.

He's a punkey teenager. Case close. And this should be in N64 Zelda.

Oh, I forgot, why would he have earings as a child? Why? It just makes no sense to me why a 9 or however old he was child would have an earing. I know some do, but thats them, and this is Link.

Link's tastes just changed as he got older. Maybe... Rauru... dressed Link...

I don't see why it really matters how he got those earrings. I mean he could have bought them, or maybe Rauru just gave them to him. If you want to, I think there's a story about it in the manga, I forget, but most people wouldn't consider it canon, for any of you who don't know by now. Wow run-on sentences.

But another topic is at hand here also. Link's kokiri tunic becoming bigger. The way I see it it's one of two things:

1. Rauru had to strip him down and give him new clothes during those seven years (all of you being immature right now, shut the hell up). Although then the fact that it's a kokiri tunic would be false, because why would the kokiri make adult tunics if there are no adults? Maybe it was just a generic name for green tunics, and not ment to be taken literally. Also, this theory relies on the fact that Link was in a human form for those seven years, and not just some big energy ball or something.
2. The kokiri tunic is MAGICAL, and can grow to fit the person who wears it. Um, yeah...

Dude, it's a friggin' video game. Get over yourself.

Sorry for sounding harsh, man, but come on. There are half human/fish people in there, there are people who have the ability to disapear into midair, there is all this magical stuff happening, and your asking how he got earrings. Come on, dude, it was probably added to make him look more adult oriented.

As for questions like "How did he go to the bathroom?" and "Why didn't he need to eat?" his body wasn't really kept there for seven years, just his soul. I think the word they use in the game is "spirit." The earrings are probably just there to make him look older.

Thats like saying "wel how com he hadded different clotheses". Because his older ones didn't fit him so Rauru must have put new ones on him...ew...

I don't think Ganondorf can touch the Master Sword; otherwise, he'd have gotten the 3 Spiritual Stones, rather than tricking Link into taking them.

Earrings are a more mature thing (usually) and they'd help signify Link's passage into adulthood. As for his tunic, well, you think Nintendo wanted Link's tunic all stretched and torn? Although some fans might like that...

The reason as to why Ganondorf can't touch the Master Sword is that it repels evil. If he tried touching it then he would end up being zapped or something.

Thats a pretty good question. All I can speculate is that Rauru had some strange issues and thought that piercing Link's ears while he was in limbo was cute for some reason. Strange but interesting question nonetheless.

Rauru got bored one day and did it.

No, he WAS trying to get the spiritual stones. But he had to still be careful about doing so. He didn't want to be seen as an enemy of the king so he tried to get the stone's through threats rather than out and out violence. He threatened the gorons and the deku tree because they are fairly marginalised from the rest of hylian society anyway. As for the zoras, he was more careful because they still have strong contact with the royal family.

Ganondorf could probably touch the master sword, but would be unable to remove it from the pedestal (only one the sword deems to be the hero of time can take it). Of course, Ganondorf was probably not privvie to such sensitive information regarding the temple of time (He probably only knew about the spiritual stones, the door of time and the sacred realm).

Regarding the whole earrings business. Link's ENTIRE costume changes (He starts wearing a white shirt under his tunic, white tights, bigger boots). I'm assuming that Raaru basically kept Link fed and clothed while his soul was sealed away.
