Dankest Dungeon

You may look at this and think 'Oh dear, another dungeon thread', but this isn't dealing with best, worst, etc. The game designers meant for most dungeons to be dark, scary, and creepy. So, are they? I want to hear your opinions on which is the darkest, dankest, and scariest dungeon out of all the 3D Zeldas (N64). Give reason for which one you choose too, I don't want a spam thread!

My one (as will be lots of others I expect) was of course... the Shadow Temple. Why? Well, look at it. They meant for it to be scary, and they succeeded. It just sends shivers down your spine a lot of the time. Just stand there for ages, looking at your surroundings and listening to the music... creepy?

But what of your opinions?

Yeah same I'd say the Shadow Temple.. It's like really creepy when you walk into that room with ll those gross walls and you have to walk through them... proper scary i gotta say.. Plus the boss was a nuisance becos evertime i died I had to make my way all the way back and try again...

well i havent got up to shadow temple yet,so the dankest up to now is Forest Temple,because of the music,weird coloured flames, the poes in the paintings, the twisted walls, and most of all the shadows that grab you. By the way what is the shadow temple like ?

The Shadow temple is scary... it's got like a massive skull u gotta go into and ther's this part where you gotta do a lot of jumping and u can fall to your doom. Plus if you run out of magic with this item (iwont spoil) you cant see where you're going sumtimes so if you're walking across a path, it can disappear if u run out of Magic.. so make sure u got magic wen walking across dodgy stuff... Ih yeah there's loads of Floor masters and stuff like in the forest temple when you get to the part and it says:

"Beware of the monsters that hang from the ceilings"... w way around these is when u hear them.. press Cup and look in front of you or anywer.. they'll disapear straight away..

Yea, definately the Shadow Temple. With all the blood stained walls, redeads, invisible stuff, and that sort of thing, it's enough to creep anyone out. And Bongo Bongo was really annoying too. It's definately my least favourite and the dankest of the dungeons.

I agree, but the Forest Temple had the same spooky atomsphere with the darkness and music an all. The sound of the Floormasters when they are about to land on you is a sound you would hate to hear before dying. But I feel the Shadow Temple presented that ghastly, dreaded atomsphere and a supernatural sense with that additional fear factor. Its not a pleasant temple either so I wanted to get it over and done with really.

Shadow Temple. Seriously, would it kill them to put some lights on? And the evil, creepy atmosphere helps as well.

Hence the damn name ... the Shadow Temple. That should be pretty obvious to everybody here.

Yep...we need more dungeons like the shadow temple...I thought the SHadow Temple was pretty cool, actually, but it wasn't THAT creepy. put some more dead bodies and skeletons in there, more slime and blood on the walls, and it'll be a LITTLE bit creepier, in my opinion.

I admit the forest temple was eerie, but different of that to the Shadow Temple. The Forest Temple did it in a more 'refined' way, and it wouldn't make you want to bolt, but it did keep the feeling. Forest places are usually eerie though, because they can often appear surreal, so it was a good call to make the Forest Temple like that!

More of a mini-dungeon but I can see your point, the Bottom of Well was another eerie place as any well would be. It kind of serves as a preperation dungeon to the kind of spooky dungeon your soon going to be encountering and conquering.

Although the Shadow Temple is creepy, I would have to say the creepiest temple for me was the Forest Temple. The Forest Temple is a mixture of a hunted museum and hunted fun house (this brings up memories of evil clowns). With the paintings, the music (which I love), and the twisted corridors.

The Shadow Temple is by far the creepiest w/ all the body & those torture devices. But since you're not required to search all of the Bottom of the Well, I think that it was creepy too. It took me years before I could go down there & find the Golden Skulltulas, w/ the Gibdos coming out of coffins, & the unexpected falls.

Yes, Shadow Temple. It was like a prison/lair, some weird stuff was going on down there before Link arrived. Just look at the boss, the Bongo guy right?
The Forest Temple wasn't creepy, I really liked it, I thought it looked cool with the vines and worn out look. Link should've moved in there, it fits him.

Hey Do mini dungeons count cause if they do i have 3 different answears First off i think its the shadow temple. Why because theres those creepy Hands every where. Also its that music. I also beileif the Forest temple for the creepy hands every where. also its just so Glomey and dark with cobed webs every where i mean even in the out side you know when you go through the well and end up in a back yard well even that looks creepy with vines every where. And finally the Well mini dungeon that place is freaky those weird creatures that have like those weird hands there creepy.

Anywho, I would have to say the Bottom of the Well was the dankest dungeon. Just the idea that there are dead bodies lying around under there... the slime on the walls the... blech. It's just a bunch of nasty crap down there.

The Shadow Temple could've been more dank in my opinion, but they did a good job on it I'd say. I think it was a little too erm... "gothic" looking for me. And besides, there are supposed to be bodies and spirits strewn about in there anyways. It's the house of the dead. Why there's a skeleton marooned at the bottom of the well though... hmm...

The bottom of the well and the Shadow Temple. The bottom of the wall becuase you had to be a kid and you could fall through the floor at any minute. I never knew what to do so I was in there for an hour or so without the lens of truth. I dreaded going in there.

Shadow temple was quite scary but it was Gothic. Some bits werent that bad and it was very short if you know what your doing. So its over and done with in half a hour. Also the most scary things are the hands that jump at you and the fact the walls are fake. Once you have the lens of truth and one swipe at the hands with the biggorons sword its not that bad.

The TP might have a long scary dungeon that takes a bit longer. That would be good.

I still to this day hate the Fire Temple in OoT. The music sounds like a deadly chant, and it is scary! And I hate how every time you fall you just fall onto a different floor. The only thing I liked about the temple was smashing Vulvegoria in the head with a hammer.
