Different Mirror Sheild

If you have played both versions of OoT(gamecube & N64), you may have noticed something different about the mirror sheild.The image on the silver part is different between the two versions.In the N64 version, it is a half moon.In Gamecube, its the Wind Waker symbol (on ZU, it is the "hot thread" icon).Did anybody else notice this?I kinda liked the half moon better...

Someone has posted this before- I'm surprised more than one person noticed this so easily.

They changed the symbol from the half-moon design because it may have been offensive. It's a symbol used in many Eastern countries, possibly as a religious symbol...and after the controversy over the prayer hymn in the Fire Temple theme, Nintendo didn't want to take more chances.

I personally liked it better than the "Chozo face" myself. Heh, that's what I call that weird bird lookin thing btw. And yeah, I did notice after I went image hunting on Google for the Mirror Sheild from OoT. But, I had a feeling they changed it for reasons like SearanoX said. :/ A crying shame when game producers have to edit their stuff because someone finds it offensive or improperly placed.

It's a pretty major detail.
It's just one of those things you have to notice unless you've completely forgotten about the game.

Old one was an islamic symbol IIRC.

They didn't just change the moon symbol on the mirror shield. They also changed it on the movable blocks as well.

Yeah, well. People are sensitive about religion, and Nintendo respect that, as do I. If something is going to be offensive, you have to replace it. I think I Prefer the design we've got now anyway!

Yea its an Islamic symbol for a form of worship/prayer i rember readin about it in Nintendo Power never noticed it in the game just saw it in the mag.

I wish they kept the moon symbol it looked a lot better than the ummm...I dont even know what it was changed to! some weird drawing

The moon did look better... but does it change the picture on the collectors edition for OoT?
