The WIndmill Man

If you listen to him in OOT (when you're an adult), he says that 7 years ago a mean Ocarina played a song and got the windmill crazy. Anyone ever thought who the Ocarina kid could be? I don't think it's Link as a kid, because he didn't know the song.

It is Link. He teaches Link the song, then Link goes back in time and plays it.

Yep.

Just go in the windmill as a kid, play the song of storms and see the windmill speed up (go crazy basically) The room even goes a misty green now and again, dunno if that's meant to happen though.

I believe you, and it is very cool that it is Link, but it doesn't make sense any way look at it. If the Windmill Man teaches Link the song, then how did he learn it? He said that a mean kid with an ocarina played it seven years ago (Link), but Link didn't know the song then. No sense made. Still thought it was pretty cool though.

Re: The WIndmill Man

Y'know, that comment by the Windmill Guy really didn't make that much sense.

The problem with it is that it seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Future Windmill Guy gives a hint, which ultimately makes that future true. Logically, it doesn't make sense though. You can't have the future Windmill Guy's comment if you haven't played "The Song of Storms" yet.

So, I guess all I can conclude is that he wasn't talking about Link when you initally talk to him.

Re: The WIndmill Man

Yes, it makes sense that it was Link, but it also makes sense that it isn't. I guess the godesses made the future windmill guy play the Song of Storms (which just so happens to be my favorite playable song in the Zelda games) for him, to show him the path. Strange isn't it. I love this kind of subject, the kind where Nintendo makes you actually think. Thinking may hurt sometimes, but it actually is quite fun like this. Sort of like the Link's friend thing for MM. I know it was already confirmed to be Navi, but it is still fun to think of other people. It was fun before it was confirmed as well.

Re: The WIndmill Man

For those of you who don't think it makes sense.

Link learns the song as an adult. You know that you can go back to be a kid, right? You still have the Ocarina, and therefore you know all the songs you were taught as an adult. If you play the song as a kid, it proves that you learned it in the future.

Re: The WIndmill Man

"The seeds of the future, lie in the past" Although that doesnt mean much to this theory I can help people understand it. Unintentinally the Windmill guy is the one who made Link play the song as a child. He teaches the adult Link who then goes back in time to full fill what he is supposed to do so he plays the song of storms and "BOOM" the Windmill guy is instantly pissed at Link for what he had done.

Re: The WIndmill Man

This may be off topic slightly, but I've figured out how to play the next few notes in the song of storms. The first 6 go:

A, down, up, A, down, up.

But, then it palys the song and does another small peice. I've figured out a bit from that peice. Play the normal Song of Storms, but hold the C-stick up (or the C-Up button) for the last note, instead of pressing it. Now, while holding it, hold the normal joystick up, and start tapping R. That's all I've figured out at the moment, I can't seem to get the last 2 notes. Damnit. NOTE: Do this before you learn it for more convenience. A good way to do it after you unlock the song of storms, is instead of the traditional A, Down, Up, A, Down, Up, use this: Down, Right, Up, Down, Right, Up. It sounds almost identical, and doesn't trigger the real song and stop you playing.
