Post Links sword

At the start of the game, you find a sword in the Kokiri area. and use it to get past Mido.

How'd it get there? People don't come in or out of there normally. Kokiri aren't sword people and they wouldn't be able to get the metal, they'd have a wooden sword.

And why did Mido know about it? Who bothered to create a mini-dungeon of rocks and hide a sword there?
Or is there a point I missed in conversation....

Re: Links sword

I think it's some kind of ancient Kokiri treasure. Probably passed down for years, or something.

The sword

I think the sword was one of Links birth presents and the great deku tree and some other kokiris hid it and Mido was one of them!!! Or like the other dude says, a treasure passed down through many many years!!!

My though process is the same.

I'm pretty sure that Mido says something about it being a Kokiri Treasure, can't be too sure, but it's a pretty easy assumption.

Heh, I agree with you right there.
That could have happened. And like Kazan said, I think he said it was a treasure or something like that.

Lightbulb Who Knows?

Well, yes you're right there, but yes, it could have been passed down by a line of kokiri ancestors. Maybe it is a mystery better known unknown.

Description of Kokiri Sword: "This is a treasure of the Kokiri, but you can borrow it for a while." Yeah. Too bad he reforges it.

Re: Links sword

I always wondered why Link never returned it... Perhaps he's a thief. This is also evidenced by his behaviour in Link's Awakening when you steal stuff.
And sneaking into castles and places he isn't allowed. And just barging into houses, smashing pots up and taking the rupees.

Re: Links sword

I think he means you can create a new sword by collecting certain items and doing certain taks.

Link reforges the Kokiri sword in Majora's Mask. That's what he's talking about.

Re: Links sword

the 2 kokiri swords looked different... I was po'd... really...really mad.... you don't change something like that..... blah.... either way, it doesn't matter where the Kokiri Sword came from, and why it was hidden. Why doesn't it matter? We'll never know the answers thats why.

Re: Links sword

We'll never know. But my theory is maybe that it belonged to Link's mother or maybe it belongs to Link and was with him when he was givin to the Great Deku Tree and he and the Kokiri hid it untill the time was right for Link to wield it.

Another thoery of mine is is that the Kokiri weren't always pacifists, and that maybe long ago they were actually warriors and faught in wars, and that the war that Link's father was killed in and Link's mother was mortally wounded from was the last straw to them, so after that they secluded themselves in the forest and decided never again to fight and to try to keep Hyrule peaceful and that the Kokiri Sword was just a reminder to them, the last remnant of their old ways, that they kept hidden in the forest.

I liked the way the Kokiri Sword looked in MM. It looked more like a child-size sword than a knife. The Kokiri Sword in OoT looked way too short so it looked more like a knife then a small sword.
