it's for the game cube. it is exactly the same as OoT, except the dungeons are different and harder.

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

Actually, it's worth getting. I found it at Wal-mart for $10... Look it up on Amazon or something. It's actually (in my opinion) the better version of OoT, and a great excuse to play through the game again.

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

This is too weird... I JUST heard about this game yesterday. A guy at Moorpark College had it for computer. (Yeah. That's because it was probably illegal. Heh. Bloody bootleggers...) All I know about it is that it has the same graphics, and it's a lot harder but other wise the same game, and there are flaming bats in the Deku tree.

Does that help at all? =)

Most likely he had a N64 Rom of it, that's how he had it for Computer, Yeah there's an N64 Rom of it, looks like it's from the GC Version, as the top buttons are the color of the GC Version.

K, EDIT: About the game, the dungeons are revammped, all changed around, and that's about it. Worth checking into, pretty fun.

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

OOT MQ (known as Zelda 64DD i think) was an add on to OOT for the 64DD (only released in Japan, it did not sell very well).
Nintendo then took OOT and Zelda64DD and joined them together to make the game we know as Master Quest. It was released worldwide on a limited edition disk bundled with WW

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

Just pulled this from ZU. Should clear anything up.

Quote:
Many have asked what exactly Ocarina of Time: Master Quest is. To understand the answer, you will need some background knowledge.

A few years ago, Nintendo were planning to do an upgrade for the Nintendo 64 called the 64 DD (DD stands for Disc Drive). The reason they wanted to do this, was to attract more third party game developers to the N64. However, they did have quite a few titles of their own ready to launch with this new and exciting add-on, one of them called Ura Zelda.

This was a much harder version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, featuring remixed dungeons that was supposed to be the ultimate challenge for any OoT lover! Because the 64 DD add-on for the N64 never became a hit in Japan, they decided not to release it outside of Japan, and therefore Ura Zelda was also added to the list of games that none other than Japanese gamers got to try, 20 000 of them to be exact.

When Kaze no Takuto, or The Wind Waker, was released, Nintendo decided to give more people a chance to experience Ura Zelda, and added it along with the original version of Ocarina of Time to a bonus disc, available exclusively to those who pre-ordered the game before a certain numbers of days within the release of the Kaze no Takuto.

A while after these news had been spread around the world, Nintendo of America decided to do give American gamers the same opportunity as the Japanese got, and along with that, they released the English name for Ura Zelda. You might have guessed it already, but if you are one of those who rather save your thinking for playing Zelda, the English name was Ocarina of Time: Master Quest.

Although the game comes wrapped up with the orginal Nintendo 64 graphics, the framerate for both the original Ocarina of Time and Master Quest has been slightly improved from the N64 versions.

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

As a completely useless sidenote, MQ seems to have more puzzles and less fighting than OoT.

Hey, you should get it. It's well worth it, and If you beaten OOT through a few times, you'll love the challenge. It's worth it.

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

OoT: Master Quest is very hard. I've seen my brother, who's beat normal OoT more times than I can remember, play it. He (and I too) have gotten good enough to where if we don't get cocky, we can get through each dungeon without getting killed once. He tried Master Quest, and had problems like you wouldn't believe just trying to get through the Deku Tree dungeon!

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

MQ is (in my opion) Great! It`s must more challenging and it`s name applies: Its a Quest only for masters! It`s all lot of fun too!! Beating Ganondarf/Ganon is soo much fun! If you beaten OOT many times beware: None of the Temples are the same! Don`t rely on memory!

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

I got OOTMQ as a ROM for the computer. The last thing i wanted to do is spend $30 for a USED copy of the game for the gamecube. I havent seen it any cheaper then $30 and i already have OOT for the N64. and dont go looking for the ROM. the website that had it took it down.

*cough*wwww98hasillegalROM*cough*

I think that it's much better, as the dungeons are harder, and it adds a new hardness.

The cows in Jabu Jabu freaked me out though.

Re: Ocarina of Time Master Quest??

I got it for pre-ordering Wind Waker, but if you can still find a copy somewhere it's worth picking up.

What seems to be the case through most of the game that I found is that if the level was easy in the original, they made it harder, and the levels that were hard, are now easy. I was very disappointed with the Water Temple in OOTMQ.
