Mario Bros. Reference in OOT (It's not what you think)

Sharp the Elder and Flat the younger, RIP

The 2 brothers in OOT that worked tirelessly only to die without being recognized as possibly the greatest composers that ever lived. Although you never see their human faces, you can still recognize the similarity...

I was playing OOT (again) and during the Composer Poe Brothers fight in the Graveyard and I recognized many similarities between the Royal Composers and the Dynamic Plumber Duo: especially since Mario=Sharp and Luigi=Flat

1. The symbols on the Composer's hat resemble the letters on M & L's caps.
2. Sharp is short & fat and Flat is tall and thin
3. Peices of Flat and Sharp's outfit are red and green
4. They have similar mustaches
5. Sharp (Mario) and Flat (Luigi) are age appropriate (M&S= Older L&F= younger)

But because of this, think of the possibilities; the living brothers could look like realistic Mario & Luigi, and the paintings in the room next to the Castle Courtyard could be of distant relatives, or aquaintances...

What do you think about this idea?

Super Mario Sunshine is a bright, sunny game, and Luigi's Mansion takes place entirely at night. Maybe Nintendo got the inspiration from here!

Wow you guys have totally analyzed the hell outa this, when i first looked at the thread i was thing Talon and Ingo. wow sharp and flat, would have never thought of that.

Holy crap! I was certain this was common knowledge already! I mean really, I don't see how anyone can not notice that. o.o;;

Well, seeing as it obviously isn't as easy to notice as I thought, good job on spotting it.

mario thing is kind of obvious. the moon and sun thing.......WOW.

I appluad Hylian Dan for pointing out the moon and sun thing. That was the only thing about this whole cameo I didn't see clearly.

Hmm thats interesting, I never thought that the state of SMS and LM could have been decided because of this game. But sometimes I think TLOZ goes overboard with Mario refrences.

Wow, good theory. I thought Talon and Ingo were similar to Mario and Luigi, but what has been said has changed what i thought. The red and green clothing, the symbols etc. Great work.

Actually I was kidding a bit when I said Nintendo got the inspiration for LM and SMS from OoT. The sun and moon symbols are most likely there because they composed the Sun's Song (and possibly the Song of Storms). It is possible that Nintendo thinks Mario is a sunnier character than Luigi, though. And Talon and Ingo also represent Mario/Luigi.

wow thats awesome i really never saw that... but i never really payed a whole lot of attention to that part anyway.

I would have never cuaght that on my own. I've even played that part of the game twice and never had the faintest clue. Nice work.

This ish fun, I love both series, and cameos make me happy! Er, but weren't Sharp and Flat from Majora's Mask, I never remembered seeing them in Oot......

They are in OoT as well. You can fight them at the graveyard as a kid, but I can´t remember how. Perhaps by moving some graves...

OMG, i thought i remembered fighting them, like when i first played the game, but i could never do it agian, i cant even remember anything about it, i was starting to think i dreamed the fight when i was OoT/MM crazed.

there are two graves next to the big one at the back of the graveyard. (where u get the sun song)

read those two graves!
