Fierce Deity is EVIL!!!!

Okay, I've had MM for like, my entire life, but I never got around to getting the Fierce Deity's mask, which is what I did about an hour ago (the goron moon dungeon nearly plunged me into a deeper layer of insanity) and then I'm like cool I got EVERY mask, awesome. So then I went to fight Majora, and I'm like this is gonna be soo easy... tap A like three times, without even moving, Majora's Mask dies, tap A a couple more times, Majora's Incarnation is dead, then I decide to kill the other masks floating around, bang bang, and then shoo shoo (my sword shoots lasers! ) Majora is destroyed, HOLY CRAP, my 5 year old cousin could do this! I've heard random chatter on these forums about Fierce Deity being evil, but after Majora told me I was to play the bad guy, and the very description says "could this mask's power be more dark then majora's?" or something like that, then I easily pwn Majora the most evil thing in the Zelda Mythos according to me (look what he did to Kafei...)

It would honestly make sense if he was, being as he is as strong as he is. And he's been portrayed as evil in most media (except the Manga bonus story). Not sure where I fall on this one, honestly though.

Yes... fierce deity is evil, he is an oni and according to japanese folklore... onis are malignous and wicked creatures... you can even deduce this judging by link's appearance when he change phases...

Fierce: violently hostile or aggressive in temperament.
Deity: A god or goddess.
Just the name points to him being evil, and insanely strong. So yes, I agree that he is evil, but I thought this was old news.

Doesn't that make Zant as evil, considering that he turned Midna into an imp?

Or Ganondorf, moreso for killing a Sage. Although maybe the intent of Majora's Mask was more malicious - it apparently played a personal hand in cursing Ikana, and even convinced the pirates to steal the Zora eggs - awfully delicate actions intended to cause misery for all involved. Even Ganondorf has shown mercy at times. *Shrug*

Personally, I don't think that Fierce Diety is evil, rather the opposite. In order for Link to obtain the mask, he had to perform the highest possible amount of good deeds in Termina. Because of this, I think that Fierce Diety is a reflection of how Link gained strength from helping others, and then doing what every truthful person must do; let go of their masks.

Majora didn't do jack to Kafei. Skull Kid cursed Kafei. There is no "Majora" entity ever present in the game.
Majora's Mask was specifically designed for evil purposes and as such it was wrapped up in a lot of negative energy, becoming so powerful it gained sentience. The mask may be called "Majora's Mask" but that doesn't mean it's actually affiliated with anything called "Majora" outside what the builders thought.
Being a transformation mask, the Fierce Deity's Mask probably does represent an actual being (that's how they work) but we don't know anything about this person except hints of what they looked like.
But that's all tangential.

The Fierce Deity's Mask has a comparable amount of "dark power" as you said the game stated, but unless that power is used for evil you can hardly say the mask itself is evil, let alone the entity it is based on.
Being a massive nerd, I shall quote another video game that sums up this dark power to evilness business.

I halfway agree, however the mask was sentient and had motivations. It was an entity, of a kind. For example, some of the actions taken by the power of the mask couldn't have been the desires of Skull Kid in the slightest. He had no grudge against the Carnival of Time, and was far from suicidal, prior to wearing the mask. I see it as obvious that the majority of malicious motives were really the intention of the Mask. Consider it's description of Skull Kid as a puppet.

Power is not evil, it's the way you use it. The Fierce Deity mask can also bee seen as this divine punisher without sense of good or evil just justice. It's the arbiter. A Dark and empty doll without a soul to be used when needed. Empty and dark is not always evil just something we don't understand. It is badass when you get it, but I see it as a part of the mythos in Termina that was simply not conveyed as information in the game to Link who is just visiting there. The colour white represents emptiness and sorrow in the eastern world when we here in the western side have black for that and here evil is there in black too and Oni Link has a lot of white in it. I see the FD mask as the thing the gods keep locked away and use to do the unwanted when it is needed. I comes from similar background that Majora does and it's power can easily be used for evil. He can be seen sort of as the executioner of gods and is left with the unwanted duties that other "good" do not want to deal with. It is needed but rarely used and it would make sense that Majora had it since it is the only thing that can destroy Majora without any hard trying. Majora would be sure to have sought out it knowing that it could harm Majora so easily. Mistake was to take it as a game and give it to Link. I think Majora did not understand the masks power in it's childish mind. It is possible that the same people/things that made Majora's mask made the FD mask to sort of balance each other. Both with incredible power of destruction but yet having the potential to consume each other. link just was better at playing good guys and bad guys than Majora was. And of course Majora would call everything that he didn't agree with "bad". We can't assume that the Fierce Deity mask is bad simply because Majora's mask so says. I mean Majora just wanted to consume and destroy the entire world.

Yes, i will say the same thing, the first time i played this game i did not get the Fierce Deity mask, and took me a hella while to kill that majora bastard, then couple years later i decided to play again and i went by the book 100%, got the mask and was dumbfounded. If i wanted to rule the world i think i would rather have the Fierce Deity mask... But that's just me...
