Pink Floyd

In the past couple of months I've become majorly addicted to them.
What's your favorite album/song etc? I only have three of their albums, but I've heard a lot of stuff off of some of the other ones. Of the tree I have I go:

1: Animals
2: The Wall
3: Wish You Were Here

Animals is just...damn near musical perfection to me.
The Wall is really catchy and I like the plotline
Wish You Were Here is pretty good, but the only song that I really love off of it is Welcome to the Machine. The other songs are good, but that one's great.

Discuss the awesomeness of this band!

Re: Pink Floyd

Wish You Were Here is one of my favorite songs of all time, but I haven't heard much else off that album. Then of course The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon are both phenomenal.

Re: Pink Floyd

I love the album Meddle. I love the jazzy-blues influence in it and Echoes was a masterpiece (ask Andrew Lloyd Weber).

Re: Pink Floyd

Pink floyd is amazing. Animals is my favorite album so far, but I haven't heard all of their albums. I'd LOVE to have all their albums. right now I own:
Animals
WYWH
Meddle
The Final Cut
Division Bell

I seem to have a lot of late floyd. I haven't gotten around to getting the wall or dark side yet, just cuz they are played on the radio so much, I never feel the need to listen to the album. I've only listened to the final cut once or twice. I actually just bought it because someone who listened to my internet radio show when I was in broadcasting school really wanted to hear two suns in the sunset (or something like that... is that what it's called?) so I bought it to put it in the system. although I really like that song.

Re: Pink Floyd

Honestly, I think Pink Floyd is extremely overrated, but that doesn't mean that they are not an amazing band.

Re: Pink Floyd

I wasn't really a big fan of them before, but then my mate lent me their entire back-catalogue, and now I love some of their stuff. Wish You Were Here is probably my favourite album by them, because the guitar on Shine On You Crazy Diamond, and the sheer FUNK of Have A Cigar sound fantastic.

Re: Pink Floyd

I love Pink Floyd, right when one of their songs starts on the radio you know who it is, just because there's not another mainstream band that does anything like that. Their songs have much more to them then other bands.

Re: Pink Floyd

I don't want to pick a favorite album cause I like them all. Some of their songs I really like are Great Gig in the Sky and Comfortably Numb.

Re: Pink Floyd

I love Pink Floyd for their unique genius. None of these crap bands today can hope to have the same shine as Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd's top five albums:

1. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
2. A Saucer full of Secrets
3. The Wall
4. Wish you Were Here
5. Dark Side of the Moon

Pink Floyd is yes.

Re: Pink Floyd

See, I'm not a huge fan of the stuff they did when Syd was still there. I plan on getting all their albums eventually, but from what I've heard, I wasn't a huge fan of the older stuff.

Re: Pink Floyd

Barret was epic fail. At least when his mind began deteriorating. For some reason I keep wanting to say that "Shine of You Crazy Diamond" was about him. :\

Re: Pink Floyd

Well, the whole album Wish You Were Here is sort of dedicated to him, so it's very possible Shine on you Crazy Diamond is for him...I haven't paid much attention to the lyrics.

I read something about him walking into the studio, bald, and everyone just started crying. :\
