New slayer has a far bigger difference than just being slower. The riffs are not thrash anymore.

Yes my religion taints my mind for it makes me appriciate good music regardless of lyrics?

If the lyrics don't sound good, whether or not they make sense, then the rest of the song can bend over and kiss its arse goodbye.

Re: Iron Maiden vs. Slayer

Slayer is awesome, but from a vocal perspective, Tom Araya doesn't even come close to comparing to Bruce Dickinson.

Iron Maiden. Seventh Son. Yes. Iron Maiden's instrumentals (or instrumental sections) win me over.

Re: Iron Maiden vs. Slayer

Well, iron maiden is my favourite band, so i vote maiden.
But, how can you even compare these 2 bands? :S
Iron maiden is old skool heavy metal, where as Slayer is Trash metal.
They sound so completely different, you can't say/ask which one is better, they're 2 completely different bands/sounds/whatever.

Hard to say it any better myself. Comparing Slayer to Iron Maiden would be like comparing a Metal band to a Rap artist...it doesn't really make to much sense because both of them perform different genres meaning that their sounds and lyrics are most likely going to be different.

Although to be on topic; I'll say Iron Maiden because of their vocals not to mention half their solos.

Rap and metal are just as similar as two metal artists? I mean there's bands with individual songs have more differences between them then these bands do (In Flames anyone?).
