Radiohead
Pretty much one of the best bands ever. I love every one of their albums, but I've been currently listening to In Rainbows too much for my own good. I could probably listen to them all day because Thom Yorke's voice is just that good. Is there anyone else as passionate about them as I am or do you even care to talk about them?

Re: Radiohead
Radiohead are one of my favourites of old. I really like In Rainbows but ultimately I don't think they will surpass anything from The Bends and OK Computer.
I wish Yorke would stop bleating on about the harmful effects on the environment that touring causes though. ~ Adhamh. |

Re: Radiohead
To switch things up a little, I'll say that I don't really care for Radiohead.
I try. I try really hard to get into them and to see and hear what other people do. I've tried listening to Kid A and Ok Computer, more than a few times, to try to get into them, but I just get bored while listening. There's just nothing that draws my interest. I respect them for the influence they've had, they are probably one of the more influential bands of our era, but they just aren't my thing.

Re: Radiohead
Ok Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows are my favorites. My brother loves them, he has all their cds. My favorite songs are Paranoid Android and Videotape. The first is just such a wierd combination of random, the second is a more sadder, emotional peice that affects me more than Evanescence or Within Temptation do.

Re: Radiohead
I'm not an uber fan but I highly respect their musicianship. In rainbows is great. How to completely disapear will probably be my favorite song of theirs forever. That song is a true work of art. I saw them live in St. Louis like a month ago and they were awesome.

I'm very jealous. I still have not seen them live, but would really like to. I mean were they awesome or were they beyond belief?

Re: Radiohead
They are my favorite band in the history of music.
Pablo Honey was their debut album. It was mainly a grungy album with loud guitars and Thom's voice was filled with teenage angst. As Colin Greenwood stated in an interview with Rollingstone Magazine, this was Thom's Johnny Rotten period. Creep was a huge hit, but I'll admit it's success and fame really makes me despise the song as I've heard it so many times. For good songs on this record there are Stop Whispering, Thinking About You (a great song to listen to when you're hung up over a girl), Anyone Can Play Guitar, and You. The great thing about You is when Thom yells it for about thirty seconds with a powerful chord blasting from behind him. Good stuff. They came out with their EP My Iron Lung shortly after. It has some good tunes on it, obviously My Iron Lung (a song about their hatred for Creep), The Trickster, and Lewis, but everything else was mediocre. Following the EP came The Bends. Good Lord is this a good album. I mean sure, I'm sick of many of the more heavy tunes on it, My Iron Lung, Just, Bones, and The Bends, but sometimes I'm in the mood for them. Never escaping my love are Fake Plastic Trees, (Nice Dream), Bulletproof . . . I Wish I Was, Sulk, Street Spirit (Fade Out), anything on that album can grab my attention. After The Bends came their album that many call their magnum-opus, OK Computer. Now every song on this album is good **** and will forever be good ****, excluding Fitter Happier which is just a filler anyhow. You have your mellow songs like No Surprises and The Tourist and then you have your balls out songs like Paranoid Android and Electioneering, which Johnny tears up. I mean you have to respect a work of music this good. You just have to. After what many call their masterpiece, easy listening for sure, Radiohead came out with Kid A, OK Computer's polar opposite. Kid A was an electronic album in that it did not follow the guitar, bass, drums, vocal combo and instead placed the computer and the synth in their places. But this album is just beautiful. Songs like Kid A, How to Disappear Completely, and Motion Picture Soundtrack are really just gorgeous creations. And when you have uptempo songs like Optimistic and percussive tunes like Idioteque, I can't see where you can go wrong with listening to this album. Oh, Amnesiac. Not their best album. I mean, it has great songs on it, but it's right behind Pablo Honey with Radiohead albums I can't really get into. Don't get me wrong, I love plenty of songs off it, which You and Whose Army? being one of my favorite Radiohead songs, but I just can't get into it like I can with other albums of theirs. Pyramid Song is a goodie as well, just being a nice piano song that at the same time is in the heavens with its atmosphere. Life is a Glasshouse is a good one too, the horns and the chorus are mostly what turn me on to it. While it's a good album, don't go out and buy it if you're looking for some GOOD Radiohead. Now we have I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings. This is just a live show of Radiohead's and if you're a fan, you should definitely grab a copy of it. I mean, just having a live version of Idioteque and True Love Waits is reason enough, but Like Spinning Plates is turned into a simple, and yet stunningly beautiful song. 2002's Hail to the Thief, while it disappointed many fans, is loved greatly by me. The best part about it was the integration of Radiohead's electronic side with it's guitar-laden side. Songs like 2+2=5, Punchup at a Wedding, and Myxomatosis really show how far they had come. We Suck Young Blood, though a slow piano song, is really a catchy and fun song to clap along with. Sail to the Moon is another simple piano song, Thom focused a lot on the piano after OK Computer. Sit Down Stand Up remains my favorite from this album because of Thom's voice going over his own background vocals with a stunning outro. AND THE RAINDROPS! AND THE RAINDROPS! In Rainbows is a great ****ing album. Seriously, there is nothing I can say bad about this album. Granted Mk1 and Mk2 are really lame to have been put on the extra side to the album, but other than those two fillers, they don't even have lyrics, the album is a masterpiece. Side 1 is only a little bit better than Side 2. The album has the right amount of acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and computer generated sounds and synths. Listen to Reckoner, Nude, 15 Steps, Last Flowers to the Hospital, Go Slowly, Up the Ladder, and 4 Minute Warning. Please listen to them. In fact, please listen to all these Radiohead albums. They're amazing. And when you're done listening to them, listen to them again.

Re: Radiohead
The music was absolutely spot on. As good if not better than the cd recordings, which is a real treat in an age where probably 50% of the recording artists get all their bad takes fixed digitally, so when such a band gets up on stage live you can really hear the difference in a bad way.
One thing that really stuck out to me was how into the music they were. A lot of bands it seems tries to talk too much and make very poor jokes and the like, but Radiohead was just there to share their music with people and it showed. I wish I could remember the full set list but it had a nice flow.
