Coldplay stole the song, apparently. It's not f'sher, and apparently Coldplay has proof that the song has been demoed for a long time now. So yeah. Food for thought.

I call bull**** here XD Okay, there is a chance that it's because I just like Coldplay, but to me it sounds like a coincidence. Also, sounds like the dude in the video is just bitter and cranky

Also, didn't this happen to the Chili Peppers with Dani California?

I'm not even a Coldplay fan at all and I call bull**** on this.

It just seems like a really tenuous similarity to me.

It also sounds like a small-time musician making a claim like this to get attention at the expense of a well-known band, but that might be overly cynical.

I think it's fairly obvious they're trying to ride on the coattails of Coldplay, here. If that's the cynical inside me speaking, then so be it, but it really does seem that way.

It was when he started going on about how HIS song should be on an iPod commercial and not Coldplay's!!! that the thought really occured to me.

well it's about the crusades, so it has a "churchy" sound to it.
I suppose you could associate that with christmas.

as for the "plageurism" crap-

I call BS!
Neither song is SO pioneering and "new" that it can be called out for copying.
Both songs have pretty simple rhythyms and patterns. I mean, I could have written a melody like that when I was 7.

I'm not saying either song is bad, I happen to dig both... I'm just saying the melody pattern and rhythym of both songs is quite simple and it doesn't surprise me that 2 bands could have written similar sounding songs.

if Vanilla Ice could get away with ripping off Queen for Ice Ice Baby, then I'd say Coldplay are safe

Its not plagiarism, it just has similar melodies. They're both good songs though, I loved it on the iPod commercial .

When I listened to this album I felt like I was listening to the best album ever.

I got Viva La Vida today. It's everything I thought it would be, even after hearing Viva La Vida (the song) and Violet Hill. It's just a great album. Brian Eno should definitely produce all their albums from now on.

I really like this album. I downloaded it (yes, legally!) the other day. I really like the last song, Death and all his friends. it's actually like 2 songs... weird.

I love the fact that Coldplay aren't afraid to have a 7 minute song!!

I picked this up a few days ago, just gave it a listen earlier today. Not bad. There's times where it sounds kind of like the same old Coldplay, but there are more than a few really solid tracks on the album.
