<<The Sound Of Now>>
We remember big names such as the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Yard birds etc. all famous pop bands of that era that are hugely appreciated today. But what bands are the sound of today that will be appreciated by our children and their children in 20 years?
Another point is in your opinion, what is the sound of now? What bands or genre captures the sound of today? In Britain, in my opinion bands that are going to be remembered for capturing the sound of the generation and day in later years are the following:
So what are your opinions guys? What about the USA or other countries?

Re: <<The Sound Of Now>>
I'll give an example with mine:
Good Charlotte: Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Linkin Park: What I've Done Sum 41: Confusion and Frustration in Modern Times Billy Talent: Red Flag Green Day: American Idiot These bands speak the truth, I mean look at Good Charlotte, annoying famous people. Linkin Park talks about what we've done affects the world as a whole. Sum 41, well, the song title tells all. Billy Talent says kids ARE our future! Can you guess who Green Day's talking about? If this is what you mean then there you go.

The ones that stand out amongest the rest. I'm sure bands like Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys will be remember, and/or laughed at.
I would agree with your list so far, Artorium. :3

Re: <<The Sound Of Now>>
Yeah, I know CANADIEN ROCK RULES!
Artorium, a piece of advice, on threads like this you should put links to music or other stuff that has to do with the bands, like I did. it would make it a lot easier to see why we should think they'll be remebered. It gives your argument a little support. That's why I didn't comment on the UK bands becaue I've never heard of them, heh.

Re: <<The Sound Of Now>>
If you listen to a Classic Rock radio station, you'll find that the music generally ranges from bubblegum pop to hard rock. The real issue with trying to figure out which bands are still going to be big in thirty years or so from today is that genres have expanded that much more. I'll try to break it down into categories, with artists starting from the early/mid 90s to today, covering genres that I know better than others (ie I won't make a ruling on metal or electronic, I don't know enough about them).
It the mainstream pop category, definately The Backstreet Boys, N*Sync, Christina Aguilera, and Britany Spears from the 90s. From today you'll probably still be hearing Justin Timberlake. and Avril Lavigne For rock (in very general): Radiohead, Oasis, Nickelback, Coldplay, Beck, Ben Harper, Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band, The Flaming Lips, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, blink-182, The Offspring, The White Stripes For rap/hip-hop/R&B: Kanye West, Eminem, 50 Cent, R. Kelly, Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, Biggie Canadian specific: Barenaked Ladies, Alanis Morissette, The Tragically Hip, K-Os, possibly Arcade Fire. I'm probably forgetting a bunch, but those are the bare bones, as far as I can think of.
