Metal!!!

Since the Dawn of Time, one genre of Music has dominated and ruled with an Iron Fist. I speak of course of Heavy Metal.

So, yeah. Tell us about your favorite metal songs, and why you like them. If you don't like Metal, then get out.

My favorite Metal song is Master of the Puppets by Metallica. Great lyrics, and an awsome sound that no other band has been able to match yet.

I like some metal but that's taking it a bit far, it's just music.

This thread sucks. It's people like you who give metal a bad name. If Satyr wasn't a sellout idiot, he'd impale you with a pitchfork.

I think Creeping Death is more 'metal' than Master of Puppets.

I think metal is pretty cool, but the whole creepiness and chaos puts me in a bad mood, so I don't listen to it.

And obviously you don't detect my sarcasm, though my intentions are not entirely sardonic.

In any case, yes I like metal. You can see my selection here, though I should note that most of my top artists are outdated and have yet to be replaced by others (though Arcturus, Moonsorrow, Vintersorg, etc. are creeping up on them).

If you haven't noticed my user name (which is more metal than everything mentioned in this thread so far), find the album and band and then we'll talk.

Wow dude, no need to get insecure over there.

Iron Maiden is considered New Wave of British Heavy metal, which was not specified upon entering this thread. No one mentioned genres, so I posted what I felt like.

oh god let's not start arguing over what's metal and what isn't. BLARGH STFU all you metal-elitist know-it-all-snobs. no-ones impressed by your high and mighty claims to keeping the sacred knowledge of what is truly "metal"...

and to answer the question, I think Paster of Muppets is pretty sweet.

Old school death metal is among the greatest modern music ever created as far as I'm concerned.

There is not a metal album that isn't from Pain of Salvation, Primordial, Agalloch, or Slough Feg that is anywhere as good as At the Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours.

Margar, hush it. It isn't elitism. It is simply knowledge of music.

Mentioning LAMB OF GOOD in a metal discussion gives me a headache. Seriously, what a terrible excuse for a metal band.

Creeping Death was stolen from EXODUS.

Funny how I'm listening to Maiden at this moment, but Death Metal rules. Hard.

I see... two acceptable thrash bands that have fallen from grace, two horribly overrated groove bands (one worse than the other, but anyways), and 4 bands that aren't metal.

I kid, I kid!

I used to be huge into metal back in highschool, but as I grew older other musical interests kind of pushed it out of the way. I try to listen to metal whenever I can, but I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to search for the newest hot-off-the-presses Melodic/Progressive/Doom/Viking/Death Metal bands whose limited print import CD's will cost me a minimum of $35.99 to purchase.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I like metal, but I don't let it dominate the totality of my musical taste.

I completely understand, it's most people's least favorite album from At The Gates lol. I happen to love it, but to each his own. Have you ever listened to Carcass's "Heartwork" or "Necrotism"?

Actually it tends to be most peoples' favorite album, but either way ...

I like Necroticism but I feel that it drags on far too long, I'd much rather listen to Exhumed's Anatomy Is Destiny which does that style far better.

I don't much care for Heartwork.
