Re: Metal!!!

If you ak me the best band is gamma ray, out of all the concerts i have seen their performance was the best, In extremo were also very good and there is nothing to complain about the Maidens. So here are some of the bands I truly like: Gammy ray, Helloween, Iron maiden, Stratovariuous, Hammerfall, Grave digger, W.A.S.P., Megadeth, Rage, Manowar, Therion.
Kai Hansen the founder of gamma ray is called the father of melodic metal..

party on wayne

Well, I just hit random on my death metal playlist and came with Unanimated - In the Forest of the Dreaming Dead. Very good melodic death album that isn't overproduced and overflooded with saccharine melodies.

So that.

@: It is Me - the term you're looking for is power metal, not melodic metal, and Kai is not the father of it - Harry Conklin and the other guys from Jag Panzer are. Ample Destruction came out before any of the power metal releases that Helloween did.

That's actually an overly excellent example. I withdraw my last statement.

how about instead of telling people what to do and what not to do, you let them listen and decide for themselves before pushing your opinions on them as fact.

I didn't tell anyone to do anything, I simply asked them. 'Please do not' is not telling them.

@ErosionOfSanity Glad you liked it, and also if you really do want to hear Edge of Sanity at their best I'd suggest their album Unorthodox.

I suppose you're right htere. although it still sounded elitist.
oh, and BTW, Not everyone knows enough about music to understand what "Over-produced" means. to most music listeners, that really has no bearing. Of course, I know what it means and have definately found songs that are overproduced (mostly pop). I'm just basically pointing out that just saying something is an over-produced piece of crap is kind of cryptic for some. Not to mention that something can be as heavily and meticulously produced as possible and still sound excellent. if the music suck, no amount of production can save it

Creeping Death was stolen from EXODUS.

Funny how I'm listening to Maiden at this moment, but Death Metal rules. Hard.

I see... two acceptable thrash bands that have fallen from grace, two horribly overrated groove bands (one worse than the other, but anyways), and 4 bands that aren't metal.

hi there...
um, I'm guessing by the grammar above that either english language is not your first language, or you have trouble typing readable sentances!!!

no offense, but I really don't understand WHAT you're trying to say there. all I saw was Donald Fagen and Metal in the same post, and it confused me. Donald Fagen is the singer for Steely Dan, my favorite band, and I'm really wondering what he could possibly have to do with metal.
can you please explain this better?

While all of those bands have elements of metal in their style, none of them actually are metal.

Just 'cause you can head bang to music doesn't necessarily make it metal.

Hatebreed is a hardcore band. Slipknot and Rage Against the Machine are bands, not songs. Slipknot and Disturbed are nu-metal, which, despite the name, is not an actual genre of metal, but more like a hybrid of rap, hard rock, hardcore and other genres depending on the band. Rage Against the Machine are, in my opinion, groove/hard rock with rap elements. One could also argue that they are nu-metal.

I wouldn't call Disturbed nu-metal, even though their drums may be distinctly rap-esque. I'd also say that Rage are more hard rock than metal, let alone nu-metal. Both, however, are awesome.

I'd say Ministry is easily one of, if not my actual favourite, band, but I prefer their faster and heavier stuff to the slower, more experimental stuff. They say they're industrial metal, but then Revolting Cocks call themselves industrial metal and they're pretty much entirely different.

Re: Metal!!!

I grew out of most metal. I'm pretty picky about the metal I do listen to. I do love Megadeth and Black Sabbath, but those are really the only full on "metal" bands I like. Bands like Dream Theater and Between the Buried and Me include a lot of metal elements in their music, but its not 100% metal. I just really don't like Metallica or Maiden or Priest or most bands along those lines.

Nowadays metal just seems a bit childish. I'm not very forgiving haha.
