Radiohead

Although they emerged with grunge rock as their main focus, it must be recognized that Radiohead is an amazing experimental band and easily one of the best bands out there today. Their albums have been recognized by fans, magazines, and sites as some of the greatest ever produced. Rolling Stone magazine naming them 73rd of all time. In fact everything but the radio praises Radiohead for doing what they do.

Let's offer them our praise aswell.

Re: Radiohead

Radiohead - In Rainbows.

As I said there, I've never been able to get into Radiohead, finding them mostly too bland for my tastes. I do appreciate their impact on music, particularly on a lot of indie rock and such. I also like how they've dealt with their latest album, as it shows yet more innovation in an industry that really needs it.

Re: Radiohead

Radiohead, a great British band.

What attracts me to them is their diversity. With each new album, comes a new sound, sometimes subtle, other times drastic. A good place to start at the release of "Creep" from the Pablo Honey album. It seemed that the influences involved then were mainly the sound of U2, some 80's rock and some of the more recent music of the 90's. The second album, The Bends, really defined that rock sound, while moving away from some of what was featured in the earlier album. OK Computer mixed it up hugely, being an epic alternative album, packed with emotion, instrumentation and seemingly electronica influences coming through. The following albums seemed to take this idea and run with it, creating quite a techno sound, like nothing heard from the band before, and heavily dropping its guitar orientation. I believe it was around this time when the band was close to a split. You could sense the tension in the next album, Kid A, followed by Amnesiac. From there, things have been a little more relaxed I think, with Hail to the Thief not really progressing too much, but after so much progression and changes, it has to be expected. I'm yet to hear In Rainbows, as I've not really listened to the band all too much as of late.
