The ladies who populate most rap/hip-hop video (where most of those 20 g-string wearing ladies are) aren't my type, so while I don't find them disgusting, it doesn't really do anything for me either way.

Okay, but from most of the rap/hip hop I hear on television, the lyrics seem pretty meaningless. I'm talking about lyrics about booty, hittin' the clubs, smokin' blunts, etc... That crap, I can't stand. Lyrics-wise, there are some hip-hop/rap songs that I can enjoy, but I really don't like the sound of rap. I prefer more instrumental and vocal music.

Well, what do you expect, they only know what's force fed to them on the radio and MTV and what not. They don't know about stuff like Tech N9ne, or Del, or whatever. :/

i agree with DarKnite that "around the world" is a stupid song. it is irritating. they say around the world over and over, with a maddeningly repetitive beat, and thats all. but i don't dislike daft punk completely. funny story though- a friend of mine, who used to be a friend with benefits, would always put on daft punk when we.... you know. so i associate daft punk with a lot of awkward, and occasionally fun times. all in all, not one of my favorite bands, but i respect 'em.
On rap- i have a DVD i got as a promotional item from Kool cigarettes (don't ask) called The Art of 16 Bars. it's a documentary/how to video about rap, the hip hop scene, music business, and crafting a rap somg. it features snoop, nas, del, jay z, common, kanye, method man, and a bunch of other really talented rappers and even though i enjoy other types of music over rap, i really liked the video.
