Nightwish- New single/vocalist!

I've been waiting for this for a very very long time, i was a huge fan of the last album and Targa's vocals were incredible. I just downloaded the new single, and I'm cautiously optimistic. The song itself is okay, but i'm not sure about this new vocalist. She's alright, but she lacks the vocal beauty of Targa. She reminds me of Sharon from Within Temptation, but without the stunning range. And the song is almost completly without rock elements, it has one goddamn guitar solo.

I know that sounds negative, but i AM optimistic. It wasn't bad, by any means, and although i'm not thrilled by the new vocalist, she is by no means incompetant.

Any thoughts?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the old vocalist's name, Tarja, with a J?
Anyhow, i havent heard the new vocalist her voice yet, so i can't judge.

Still, there are worse mispellings. I have a poster of her labeled 'Taja'.

anyhow, She got fired, i believe it was because she was acting like she was better than the rest of the band, being late on purpose, not wanting to practice WITH the band, but alone, etcetera. so they fired her. Not sure tough, remember reading something like that on blabbermouth.net a couple of months ago

Tarja was dismissed from the band with an open letter that was posted on the official site (It's probably still there, hit the archives). I don't remember specifics, but i believe she was a bit of a diva and there were objections about her fiancee.

There are two sides to the story, the one told in the official website of the band and the one Tarja depicts. I tend to believe it was the diva attitude that drove the other band members to kick her out, after all, you definitely don't get rid of Tarja unless you have a good reason.

On a different note.
I haven't heard this new vocalist and yet I find myself a bit skeptical. Not because she might be mediocre but because inorder to fill the spot of Tarja Turunen you need to be above average. I'm very curious towards the band's chemistry with this new member and I wait anxiously to see what happens.

I wish that her introduction to the group takes them in a different direction. To be quite honest, I hate where the band was heading and I sincerely hope that their next production is nothing like their newest album "Once".

The new one is pretty good. She's no Tarja, but I would still love to hear her sing "Know why the Nightingale Sings"

I think she'll do well.
