Arsis - United In Regret

Finally! The pre-order came! I am absolutely in love with this cd. The 1st listen didn't appeal to me as much as A Celebration of Guilt. The 2nd time through I find I am liking it more and more. I guess it just has to grow on you.

Anyways, the production seems to be much cleaner on this album. The drums sound better. the guitar tone is good, but doesn't have that raw feel it had. The vocals aren't as high, either, but I actually like them about the same as the previous 2 cds. If you like melodic death metal, check out this cd when it comes out in November!

Re: Arsis - United In Regret

Downloaded it, played it a few times and can say it isn't as good as A Celebration of Guilt. The riffs are not as good, and the melodies are often VERY forced. Forced to the point of sounding goofy.

It is okay though.

Re: Arsis - United In Regret

From what I've heard, it's amazing, but it also isn't as catchy as the first album. I suspect it will take time to grow on listeners. I never judge an album after the first few listens... otherwise I'd never have fallen in love with the new Agalloch album.

How did you get it so early, zero? I thought that it was coming out next week... if that's not the case then I'll have to check into the store today, assuming they still have some copies.

So you get it early if you pre-order it? That's pretty lame.

Also, get a haircut, hippie.

Yeah, I got my Ashes Against The Grain stuff the day it was released because I preordered the boxset. Preordering rules.

Re: Arsis - United In Regret

You got the box set? Is that the wooden box one? And I thought my slipcase was cool.

I've got United In Regret on reserve, now, so they'll have a copy saved for me. They only had one on order, but luckily it was a local distributor so I don't have to wait any longer for it.

On a side note, I got the newest Thyrfing album today, Farsotstider, and it's ****ing incredible. For some reason, I ended up getting a promo copy, which comes with a bonus track, so I'm happy... but still, didn't think you were allowed to sell those.

Re: Arsis - United In Regret

Yeah, I got the boxset with the wooden box, postcards, sticker, bone or ash (which I got the bone), and the t-shirt. Absolutely awesome.

I may end up buying UiR, if I grow to like it more. I find the melodies really forced and awkward. If the fluidity of the melodies was done in a way that say ... Garden of Shadows does it then I would love the album.

Re: Arsis - United In Regret

I don't find it forced... the melodies just don't quite segue into one another quite as smoothly as on A Celebration of Guilt. It also seems to be a good deal more technical overall.
