Linkin Park

I can't believe my favorite band doesn't have its own thread yet! Shame on all of you! *gives everyone the evil eye* All joking aside though, Linkin Park is a great band and they make music about real things. For example, with Numb, its all about living life for you, not living life for your parents and being the way they want you to be. I had similar issues where my parents wanted me to be someone I'm not so I can identify with that song. Not only that but their music is just great and original! Crawling, Faint, In the End, Breaking the Habit, Points of Authority, In the Inside, and Numb are all great, whenever I hear one of their songs on the radio I get this big smile on my face! ^_^ On top of all that, Chester, LP's lead singer, is a complete hottie! So who else here is a LP fan like myself? Come on! Don't be shy!

Listen/watch the Faint remix with FF7: AC

Edit (10/24/06): I'm sick of Linkin Park. . .

Edit 2: I made this post when I was Miss Murder (i was pretending to be a goth chick). I'm not gay.

Re: Linkin Park

Linkin Park makes me cry inside. I will admit that I listened to them when I was younger, but that was when I didn't know what musical talent was. The band consists of a no talent rapper, mediocre guitar at best, a whiny lead singer, and suprisingly very good DJ. Talented DJ aside, Linkin Park's "real life" lyrics are not much better than the emo stuff you hear today, which suck, I might add.

Re: Linkin Park

The thing is though, they have no talent. Does playing power chords, and screaming emo-rific lyrics count as talent?

I doubt that. I cannot deny their success, but the thing is that I find them horrible. Chester needs to grow some balls, seriously. His voice is god damn whiny and annoying.

Re: Linkin Park

As a band, I'm a casual listener. As in, I'll listen to the singles, but I wouldn't ever buy one of their records. I tend to find that most of their songs have the same sound to them, there's very little variety. But Hahn is a solid DJ (it's never the ones you expect, is it?), and Mike is apparently pretty well-respected as a solo artist (ie Fort Minor), but I haven't checked it out yet. A friend who is into rap/hip-hop told me it was pretty good though. I do know that he's a solid producer as well, producing some songs for Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor, including my favourite track of the record (of the half-dozen or so I've heard).

So I guess they are a bit of a guilty pleasure, but not really a major one. As far as talent goes, it's true that they aren't the greatest of musicians, but I've never held that against a band. It's the end result that I prefer to judge whether or not I'll listen to them.

Re: Linkin Park

Meh, they're alright. As my first band (and favorite for a long time), there's obviously still a space for them in my playlist every once in a while. But I really grew out of them a while back. Compared to so many other musicians, they're talent is very, very low (but still better than some). These days I listen to them only to satisfy my nostalgic needs, not really anything else. They can be fun to listen to, though. But when it comes down to it, please, give me my SoaD, Coheed, and In Flames rather than LP.

Re: Linkin Park

Linkin Park is pretty old, but they're good back in the day. But I mean if you look at all there songs, it just seems to be to same thing over and over and over again. Although I do have to say Points Of Authority FTW.

Re: Linkin Park

I'd 'ave to say, they have some some sweet beats (props to El DJ,) but I kinda grew out of them. I have both albums ("borrowed") and listen to them to remind myself of my "troubled" 8th grade year, during which I listened to them extensively. Then I got a Queen album, and landed a boot of Dark Side of the Moon- the rest is history.

I also, though, believe that they spawned the movement to return to the Screamo of the 90's D.C. rock scene; the n00b punk rockers just toned LP's massive wall of sound down, and ejected any hope of a good beat.

So, In the End, Linkin Park is a nostalgia trip for me...just patiently waiting in my iPod to scream at my poor ears...

Re: Linkin Park

I love them so much.

Krwlng is the best song ever.

It kinda sucks that Mikey is in Fort Minor (as a side project) now, but still. They're still awesome. And so are their songs.

Re: Linkin Park

I could've sworn that there was an unwritten rule against making threads about Linkin Park.

There's a reason there's a lack of LP threads that come around. They turn into flamewars or "who can bash LP the most in ten minutes" contests. Now, enough on that. As time goes on I start to like this band less and less. It's the same with Greenday where as time stretches, I like them less and less. As with everyone I used to love them. I'd spend the whole day listening to them. Then in early 2004 a Metallica song played on the radio ("Master of Puppets" to be exact). I was blown away from this. I started listening to Metallica (Master of Puppets was the fourth album I got of their's) and the rest is history. Now I don't even listen to them.

Re: Linkin Park

I find it to be more than just mere coincidence that most Linkin Park fans tend to listen to nothing but terrible music. Most fans, not all.

We've all heard the music. Over and over again in fact. Sure, their singles are kind of catchy, but Linkin Park is far from what I would consider a good band. I've never owned any of their albums, nor do I have any of their singles on my computer. I simply can't stand their music, and that's just who I am.

You can do so much better, people. There is some fantastic music out there. Sometimes, one must simply search beyond the mainstream.

Re: Linkin Park

I'm not much of a fan of Linkin park but I did like the Encore-Numb mix that Linkin Park made with Jay Z. Personally, I think Mike Shinoda is much better when he was working on Fort Minor than with Linkin Park, his songs are much better, for example Kenji:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mc0UWpRRF4

this is just one of the songs from Fort Minor, there are a couple other but this one is probably my favourite. Alot of the Linkin Park songs I've heard are always complaining about one thing or another and quite a few of them sound alike. Two that stick out in my mind right now are Numb and Pushing me away.

Re: Linkin Park

LP is one of my favorite bands, and theres a reason for that. They found the perfect combo of rap, rock, and techno, and put it on a CD. That combo is what makes them great. Shinoda is a genius too, and thier videos really mean something to me. They are without a doubt one of the greatest bands of there time.

P.S. Breaking the Habit is my favorite song by them.
