Your Soundtrack

Ever listen to music as if it was a movie soundtrack? As an inspiration, maybe, for some story in your mind, or perhaps as a soundtrack to your own life?

This is actually a modified version of a livejournal meme that I found interesting (even though I don't have a livejournal or myspace or anything). Write what songs would be in your soundtrack. You don't have to use the topics I wrote, but I think it's a pretty good list.

Opening credits: Pat Metheney - “Follow Me” (Melencholy, yet cinematic enough to make a good title screen)

Waking up: Brodsky Quartet - “It’s a Raggy Waltz” (If only I could always wake up feeling like this)
Average day: Blur - “Coffee and TV” (Not so sure about this one. The most mediocre song on this list)
On The Road: The Getaway People - “Six Packs” (makes me smile)
Partying: M83 - “0078h” (What can I say? This is one upbeat dance/techno song that manages to overcome my prejudice against upbeat dance/techno songs)

Falling in love: The Stills - “Gender Bombs” (This one foreshadows a heartbreak right of the bat, but I still think it fits.)
Happy Together: Nada Surf - “Always Love”
Heartbreak: Anathema - “A Natural Disaster”
Long night alone: Pink Floyd - “Wish You Were Here” (Cliché? Maybe. It’s a good cliché.)
Reunion: Cary Brothers - “Blue Eyes” (Gee, I hope no one notices I took this song right out of the Garden State soundtrack)

Flashback: Louis XIV - “All the Little Pieces”
Learning A Dark Secret: Queens of the Stoneage - “Mosquito Song” (Appropriately dark)
Mental breakdown: The Mars Volta - “Cassandra Geminni” (Don’t listen to this going to sleep. You get effed up dreams.)
Regret/Denial: Radiohead - “How To Disappear Completely”

Fight scene: The Hives - “No Pun Intended” (Yeah, it’s kind of a playful fight scene)
Inspirational scene: Muse - “Butterflies and Hurricanes” (Maybe this is back-handed inspiration, but I like the song)
Epiphany: Turin Brakes - “Blue Hour”

Action Packed Climax: Mogwai - “Glasgow Mega-Snake” (It was hard to settle on just one Mogwai song for this list. They are all so cinematic)
Romantic Climax: Elbow - “Ribcage”
Dramatic Climax: Peter Gabriel - “Here Comes the Flood” (A tragic climax, but a beatiful one)

Death scene: Howard Skempton - “Saltaire Melody” (Incredibly beautiful. Poetic without using words. I want to die listening to this.)

End credits: Porcupine Tree - “Arriving Somewhere (But not here)”

Re: Your Soundtrack

Opening credits: Radiohead - “Everything in it's Right Place” (A good song describing how a life starts)

Waking up: Radiohead - “The Bends” (Really super "jump-out-of-the bed-and-do-morning-gymnastics-looking-out-to-the-sunshine"-song) )
Average day: Röyksopp - “Eple” (The song sounds a bit like working in a modern job)
On The Road: Danzig - “Mother” (I got no idea, but I thought of this one)
Partying: The Clash - “Rock the Casbah” (Well, a bit retro. The youngsters would laugh, but hell, it's damn catchy)

Falling in love: Thin Lizzy - “Rosalie/Cowgirl's Song” (This song is really great in this exact theme)
Happy Together: Dire Straits - “Darling Pretty” (Maybe it doesn't fit so much but hey)
Heartbreak: Deep Purple - “When a Blind Man Cries” (*sob*)
Long night alone: Gary Moore - “The Loner” (Aw)
Reunion: Mew - “When She Came Home For Christmas” (Okay, let's say it was christmas time then)

Flashback: Radiohead - “Fitter Happier”
Mental breakdown: The Mars Volta - “Cassandra Geminni” (Yes, this is perfect. Though it would be quite a long scene.)
Regret/Denial: Pink Floyd - “Eclipse” (I dunno)

Fight scene: Audioslave - “Cochise” (Feel the urge to kill the bastard)
Inspirational scene: Pink Floyd - “The Great Gig in the Sky” (Pink Floyd = Inspiration)
Epiphany: Pardon?

Action Packed Climax: Deep Purple - “Any Fule Kno That” (Fast and genious)
Romantic Climax: Thin Lizzy - “The Sun Goes Down” (Definately)
Dramatic Climax: At the Drive-In - “Catacombs” (Desperation and Drama)

Death scene: Gary Moore & Phil Lynott - “Parisienne Walkways” (It is about thinking back to when you were born, and up to this date. Kinda fits)

End credits: Radiohead - “Motion Picture Soundtrack”

Death scene: Howard Skempton - “Saltaire Melody” (Incredibly beautiful. Poetic without using words. I want to die listening to this.)

End credits: Porcupine Tree - “Arriving Somewhere (But not here)”
Opening credits: Metallica- "attery"(Master of Puppets)-- It's starts out perfect for any movie then "Cannot kill the family, battery is found in me" (that's a few minutes later but whatev) also a great song.

Waking up: Mudvayne-"Dig"(L.D. 50)-- I'm a deep sleeper that beep beep won't wake me so I need so one screaming at Sony to get me.

Average Day: Korn-"Reclaim My Place" (Follow the Leader)-- "In the past I was known as a freak, had no friends 'cause I was weak" other then still being known as a freak to this day (but I'm only 14 then again) I can relate. Even though I can't relate with the song over all, it's enough for the win.

On the Road: Korn- "Got the Life" (Follow the Leader)-- The vibe works for that kind of thing, though not high energy or anything.

Partying: Korn- "Let's Get This Party Started" (ISSUES)-- I don't dance, this song has nothing to do with dancing. If I wanted to dance I'd chose "Got the Life" or "Make Me Bad" this song is astually about drugs and hate. I don't do drugs but still, I recommend that more then dancing though. If I killed someone it'd be this song, "You make me dead inside"

Falling in Love: Metallica- "Unforgiven 2" (Reload)-- Love sucks from what I've seen so not much other then this. My favorite "love song".

Happy together: Jimi Hendrix-"Foxey Lady" (On a bunch of albums so none of them are worth mentioning)-- Could be a falling or being in. A nice song by Hendrix over all.

Heartbreak: Metallica- "Lowman's Lyric" (Reload)-- It's a good song and it fits.

Long Night alone: Jimi Hendrix "The Wind Cries Mary" (Same as "Foxey Lady")-- It's what you'd be thinking of all night, walking around for no reason in the bar section of town... which does exist in a grow up kids suberbia of Concord...

Reunion: Korn "Lies" (Korn)-- Because I'd be like "*****, no" if she came back after dumping me, I'd feel better and she would go and forget about it.

Flashback: Korn "Daddy" (Korn)-- Depending on how back, but if it was in the last 5 years it'd be this song. Yeah, especially 3-5th grade sucked though it's slowly being less sucky so this song is starting to fit less and less. Though third to fifth was when the flashback would probably be.

Learning a dark secret: Metallica"Sumkinda Monster" (St. Anger)-- Not many songs that fit here sadly.

Mental Breakdown: Korn "Dead Bodies Everywhere" (Follow the Leader) This is Korn's sect so this had to be one of their songs, and this is a kick ass song.

Denial: Three Days Grace "It's Now or Never to Decide" (Three Days Grace)-- I hate those scenes in movies.

Fight Scene: Metallica "Whiplash" (KIll 'Em All)-- What else could it be?

Inspirational Scene: Thrice "The Earth Will Shake (Vheissu)-- The only thing I can think about right now. All you'd need to get back up.

Epiphany: Metallica "Damage Inc." (Master of Puppets)-- Good song to kill someone to, or anything of the sort.

Action packed Climax: Metallica "Seek and Destroy" (Kill 'em All)-- How many times have I put Metallica on this list.

Romantic Climax: Metallica "Sweet Amber" (St. Anger)-- I'm not much of a romantic.

Dramatic Climax: Metallica "Hero of the Day" (Load)-- A very epic song that's all boom but you still have to watch out for the cannon balls flying around.

Death Scene: Metallica "Mama Said" (Load)-- A fitting song

Ending Credits: The Who "Behind Blue Eyes" (Who's Next)- A great song.

Re: Your Soundtrack

Since I've got nothing better to do...

Opening Credits: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bad Moon Rising

Waking Up: Boston - More Than A Feeling (great lyrics for subject material)
Average Day: Billy Joe Royal - Down in the Boondocks (heck, might as well be the story of my life)
On The Road: Willy Nelson - On The Road Again (self-explanatory)
Partying: KISS - UH! All Night (say what you will about KISS, they write some awesome party tracks)

Falling In Love: Elvis Presley - Almost In Love (a nice relaxed classy nightclub feel to it)
Happy Together: The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice (for a good cheesy, comical edge)
Heartbreak: Queen - Love of my Life (super-sad song)
Long Night Alone: Simon & Garfunkel - I Am A Rock
Reunion The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses (the lyrics are almost perfect for a reunion scene)

Flashback: Pink Floyd - San Tropez
Dark Secret: Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks (only one I can think of...)
Mental Breakdown: Alice Cooper - Luney Tune (self-explanatory)
Regret/Denial: Boston - A Man I'll Never Be

Fight Scene: Mötley Crüe - Knock 'Em Dead, Kid
Inspirational: Queen - Spread Your Wings (great lyrics)

Action Packed Climax: Van Halen - On Fire
Romantic Climax: Alice Cooper - Be With You Awhile (surprisingly romantic song)
Dramatic Climax: Nazareth - Please Don't Judas Me (a bit overlong, but good internal conflict)

Death Scene: The Rolling Stones - Sister Morphine (classic story of an overdose, either literal or metaphorical is fine with me)

End Credits: Mötley Crüe - Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) (who'd a thunk it? A good closer by Crüe?)

Re: Your Soundtrack

Opening credits: As I Am - Dream Theater (a nice good introduction to the song, might as well open up with that.)

Waking up: Subterranean Homesick Alien - Radiohead (describes my mornining routine perfectly.)
Average day: Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix (Average Joe for an Average Day.)
On The Road: Fly by Night - Rush (The song just sounds like going out of town far away on the highway)
Partying: Any techno/trance song, but if I had to choose, it'd be Half Pipe - Tour La Ville (what can I say, techno seems to be good party music for me.)

Falling in love: All My Loving - The Beatles (very cliche, I know.)
Happy Together: Let it Be - The Beatles (ironically, this was one of the last songs The Beatles made before breaking up.)
Heartbreak: I Me Mine - The Beatles (pretty depressing.)
Long night alone: Sanitarium - Metallica (makes you think of walking into a deserted town in the middle of the night)
Reunion: Hotel California - Eagles (fits perfectly.)

Flashback: Astronomy - Metallica (the song was originally done by Blue Oyster Cult, but I like Metallica's cover of the song. The lyrics are pretty vauge, so that gives you a clue.)

Mental breakdown: Lost Highway - Rammstein (Lost in the mind.)
Regret/Denial: Be Yourself - Audioslave ("To be yourself is all that you can do.")

Fight scene: Mouth for War - Pantera (Pantera is good for fighting to.)
Inspirational scene: Spirit of the Radio - Rush (sounds happy and upbeat, inspires me.)
Epiphany: Yesterday - The Beatles (it may be a cliched breaking-up song, but it sort of sounds like you're just rediscovering God after turining away from Him.)

Action Packed Climax: Hatebreeder - Children of Bodom (fast and heavy)
Romantic Climax: Moments of Peace - Ikarus (the song sounds pretty passionate.)
Dramatic Climax: All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix (pretty depressing when you listen to it towards the end.)

Death scene: Moonlight Sonta - Beethoven (classic and dramtic enough.)

End credits: Blackwater Park - Opeth (starts out like you're looking back on what you have acheived, only to be defeated.)
