Danny Elfman

Ok this is a Danny Elfman appreciation thread.

I just saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and i must say that the soundtrack was absolutly astounding, I had no idea that Danny Elfman did the soundtrack. I just thought they would be the same boring oompa loompas from the first one but these were revamped and great, and to go from different music styles was even better, the first and second songs were the best, but the rest were great aswell.

Danny Elfman also does the music for The Simpsons.

Who likes this brilliant composer?

He is a great guy. He has made great music for a long time.
The soundtrack for Charlie and The Chocolate Factory was great. I loved the variety, and it was easier to take seriously.

But he was best when he was with Oingo Boingo.

Simply brilliant in anything he does. When he gets together with Tim Burton they make magic, it's amazing how Elfman seems to be able to make the perfect score for each one of Tim Burton's films, no matter how unuaual they are. He also sings, providing the voice for Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas during the musical scenes. Simply brilliant.

Nope, I can't think of any better movie composers. No matter what the movie is like, he always manages to make an awesome soundtrack. But I don't think he's worked on Futurama (I wonder if the theme song could've been any better even if a genius like him would've made it).

That right there will clue you in to how much, and how wonderful a music composer he is. It's to the point where when I hear music in anything, I can pretty much point out "That's Danny Elfman".
Oh, and no, he did not work on Futurama. He did compose The Simpsons theme, and he has one credit for *one* episode of Family Guy.
Just look over the list, and be surprised.

I really like his BIG FISH soundtracks and edward scissorhand's grand finale is awsome. I have many, many more soundtracks from him but I think those are my personal favorites..

also, I really like the dark vibe he brings to some of his music, like the music in sleepy hollow, brilliant.. I luv it! x3

He composed the scores for Spiderman 2 as well. Really great stuff.

He did the score for Batman and ever since then I have loved his music. Especially in Carlie and the Choclate Factory. He even sang all the Oompa Loompa songs! What a great composer...

Elfman/Burton/Depp always makes for a great combination. Danny Elfman is a fantastic composer. I'm in love with his unique style. It's somewhat dark, but has a light side to it as well. ^^

I have a friend who's obsessed with his work. With good reason, I say.

His music is so different and fun compared to what other composers tend to release. Not that there's anything wrong with powerful symphonic soundtracks or anything of that sort, but hearing his music is always a refreshing departure from the ordinary.

Although the music only added to the LSD trip-like experience that existed throughout the entire film of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", I'd say it's some brilliant stuff. Danny Elfman is an award-winning composer and has won numerous awards for other movies he's created music for.
