yeah man, did you see that **** he pulled yesterday at the VMA's? Not that I promote the viewing of MTV, but still.

What did he do?

He interuppted Taylor Swifts acceptance speech to say that Beyonce had the best video ever.

Basically he embarrassed/dissed Taylor Swift after she won a VMA Award.

I dunno; Kanye West sort of had a point.

I go to Youtube and I see Single Ladies, it has 65 million views, and that's not counting unofficial uploads of the same exact video.

I go to Youtube and I see You Belong With Me, and the official version has 4 million, while there are a few other uploads of the same vid that have 1.5 million views each.

Single Ladies completely owns You Belong With Me in that category, and it shows that MTV is...not very intelligent (but we already knew that).

I heard about this on the radio. How dare he come up on stage and say soemthing like that? I'm not sure what songs Beyonce sings, and I'm sure she's a great singer and all, but it's just rude to say that to Taylor. She's a great country singer who deserves an award, even if not everybody thinks she's the best around. Kanye needs to put a cork in it.

Kanye is free to say whatever he wants. The thing that was no so much cool was that he did it right during this teenage girl's acceptance speech for her first VMA win. That wasn't the forum to do it. He could have put it on his site or tweeted it or whatever, but jumping up on stage and taking the mic from Swift wasn't kosher.

This is Kanye we are talking about, so if you don't want him to do outrageous stuff at awards shows then stop inviting him to awards shows.

Yes, I think its safe to say Kanye is a dickhead. But the annoying part is, he makes good music, so I don't know whether to be a fan or not.

Yeha it's his opinion, and everyone's entitled to it, but just because he handed over his reward to people that HE thought were better than him doesn't mean that she should hand her award over to someone HE thought was better than her. And you can't think it's good PR to jump up on stage to interrupt a person and insult them.

Then again, I don't know anything about Kanye's personality. This may not be off the wall stuff for him to do.

If musicians (or any artist) are good at what they do and largely successful then they are allowed certain eccentricities.

That's just how it has been historically.

it would've been kinda funny and lightened the mood if Taylor Swift had pretended to be angry and given Kanye a hard time for it on stage. then Kaney wouldn't have to be so overly apologetic. but that's probably asking too much of a teenager who's overwhelmed with the whole experience already.

Plus I don't think it hurt MTV's viewer ratings to have a minor scandal like that.

I agree with what Nolan said. Completely. Hell, I wouldn't have even minded if he got on stage right after her speech, but during it wasn't so cool. Meh. She'll get over it. It's not that big of a deal, in my opinion, and people are making it out to be too much of a bad deed. He was simply voicing his opinion, but in a public way and during a girl's speech.

I find it as disrespect, honestly, to go and interrupt another person's speech. And I don't even listen to Taylor Swift. That was a douche bag move, really.

Well, the public ALWAYS turns everything they see celebrities do into a much bigger deal than it should be, so factor that in. In any situation, be it an awards show (prestigious or not), high school graduation, or company picnic, it's NEVER accepted for anyone to interrupt someone's speech. Let's say you're at your graduation and the valedictorian is making a speech, and then a popular, funny guy pops in, grabs the mic, and declares that his girlfriend is the best student ever. I don't think that would go over well.

Or even during a Presidential Address. But what kind of crazy person would interrupt one of those?

The amount of people who've viewed a music video is not comparable to it's quality or how award worthy it is.

And as for Kanye, yeah, it's Kanye, we should've expected this, blah blah blah. But when it boils down to it, he was a jerk to Taylor and just all around disrespectful. I like Kanye's music and don't care for Taylor's, but as people Taylor's much more respectable than Kanye. And it kind of sucks to know he's not going to really face any repercussions for his actions.

The winner of a VMA is based on popular vote, and it is very easy to see how Taylor Swift would have won it. Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Pink and Swift would all split the pop fan vote. However, Taylor Swift would have 100% of the country vote, which is a huge number.

Taylor's pretty popular on her own. A lot of people who don't like any country at all like her, but they do change her singles to make them more radio-friendly to sell more albums. Aren't major-label record companies great?

I guess on the plus side, at least Beyonce had the grace to let Taylor finish her speech when Knowles won her award. That was nice. As for Kanye, yeah, he can say whatever the hell he wants and I happen to have liked Single Ladies better as a video, also, but total moronic way to go about it.
