Who's into the real punk stuff like Charged GBH here?
The only present punk band that I like is The Casualties.

Ska is alright, but I'm leaning towards the punk side.

Pink Spiders then for sure. And All Time Low, I dunno if they count in your mind.

I do not like punk at all, but I tend to like bands that claimed to be influenced by it but don't really sound remotely like it.

Huge punk fan here. I listen to mostly early stuff such as The Eat, The Velvet Underground and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. I also like the heavier crust punk stuff.

I can just tell this thread is going to give me a headache. Trust punks to get militant about not recognizing the evolution of a genre.

What exactly did punk evolve into?

I for one, think all mainstream music is absolute ****.

There's a lot of different ways to answer that question, and a lot of different answers. One could argue that Punk hasn't existed in a 'true punk' sense since like 1980. One could argue that it is still around today. And everything in between.

But I was more referring to the fact that some don't like to accept that idea that a genre's name is often taken to refer to a sound that is not identical or influenced by bands or a sound that originally held the genre title.

Maybe its because i was introduced to punk via the bands i posted that i dont feel punk is the same. Punk did spawn alot of different subgenres like hardcore and even to some extent, goth rock and thrash metal. But i do have hard time thinking of punk as some of the stuff thats out there today. Its just old habit and my age i guess. I dont like all punk anyway. I actually despise Rancid and the Sex Pistols. Its really up to the person i suppose.

The Sex Pistols were one of the greatest punk bands of all time in my opinion.

Many people believe this. Its actually to do with the fact im not big on their music. I also think Johnny Rotten (John Liden or however you spell that) is a prat. They were never really my thing. Im actually kinda picky when it comes to punk. Rancid, i could never get into.

I understand not liking Rancid, but I loved the Sex Pistols.

LOL, no. The Ramones were more my style. They had a song i just loved. I cant find it on youtube and im pretty lazy anyway but it was called Beat Up The Brat. <3
