Actually, I hear (from people with vaguely similar tastes in music to mine)that that first demo they did; Mate, feed, kill, repeat or something was fairly decent.

It had no topic for a good reason.

Slipknot is really gimmicky. Plus their music is really bland and angsty.

Slipknot is pretty much just a collection of extremely unremarkable music that some guys put on masks to sell.

And I don't think their music is boreing. I find it hard to call something so off the wall thrash "boreing" I'd say it sucks rather than it's boring.

Off the wall thrash? Try Ministry or something. Slipknot is not off the wall thrash. Slipknot is chugging boring "hxc" crap.

I've only heard a bit, and it was pretty thrashy. Whatever, I still would rather say it sucks than its boreing.

don't really understand their whole image, and why the have nine people in the band when really the type of 'music' they create only takes three, maybe four - seems to me like one big gimmick, especially the masks

Say what you will about Slipknot, but they do have a fabulous drummer.

That they do, Snafu. If you don't like thrash, Ty, try "Snuff", "Circle", or "Vermillion Pt 2".

Or listen to Stone Sour, they have the same singer and guitarist.

As do most bands of the genre.

Slipknot is one of those bands where I know they could actually sing and play those instruments and make a song if they wanted to. Most of their "radio friendly" tracks and Stone Sour prove this. Instead they make a bunch of incomprehensible noise that's the aural equivalent of having wet sand shoveled into your ears, all the while bemoaning "bull**** music," whatever that means.

Really, I would like to know, since you seem to know so much about drummers in the nu-metal genre.

Oh, we're talking nu-metal? I just thought we were talking in a broader, heavy metal sense. I don't listen to nu-metal at all really. You've got me there.
