If You Were Making a "Best of the 2000's" CD

A while ago, Evilsbane made a thread called If You Were Making a " Best of the 90's" CD and now I want to know what you would put on a best of the 2000's CD. The decade is just about coming to an end, and I want to know what you would call the best of the best to get on the CD. About 20-ish tracks I would think would be reasonable.
My interest in music from the 2000's arn't as diverse because I didn't find that there was as many artists that I really liked.

For me, I would but these on it:
1.Stop Crying Your Heat Out - Oasis
2.Just Like You - Three Days Grace
3.The Scientist - Coldplay
4.Scar Tissue - Red Hot Chili Peppers
5.All Nightmare Long - Metallica
6.How You Remind Me - Nickleback
7.By The Way - Red Hot Chili Peppers
8.When i'm Gone - 3 Doors Down
9.Angels/Losing/Sleep - Our Lady Peace
10. Yellow - Coldplay
11.Just Feel better - Santana/Steve Tyler
12.Higher - Creed
13.Over And Over - Three Days Grace
14.Somewhere Out There - Our Lady Peace
15.It's not Enough - The Who
16.Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down
17.You Know My Name - Chris Cornell
18.Innocent - Our Lady Peace
19.Home - Three Days Grace
20.Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Re: If You Were Making a "Best of the 2000's" CD

Okay, me getting this on my first try is near impossible. I absolutely will forget songs and I will put songs on there that I later don't believe should be on there.

1. Shining Down - Lupe Fiasco
2. Hurt Me Soul - Lupe Fiasco
3. Guns are Drawn - The Roots
4. Hey Ya! - OutKast
5. Ms. Jackson - OutKast
6. Touch the Sky - Kanye West
7. Everything I Am - Kanye West
8. The World at Large - Modest Mouse
9. Black Cadillacs - Modest Mouse
10. Invisible - Modest Mouse
11. Death of AutoTune - Jay-Z
12. Icky Thump - White Stripes
13. Stan - Eminem
14. Getaway Car - Audioslave
15. I Am the Highway - Audioslave
16. Like a Stone - Audioslave
17. November Has Come - Gorillaz
18. Tomorrow Comes Today - Gorillaz
19. Back Home - Eric Clapton
20. 9 Crimes - Damien Rice

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

Re: If You Were Making a "Best of the 2000's" CD

To somewhat constrict myself, I'm going to only do two from each year and not allow myself to repeat artists. These aren't necessarily my favourite tracks of the decade, but ones that I feel wouldn't be remiss on an actual released compilation of this nature.

01. Barenaked Ladies - Pinch Me
02. Queens of the Stone Age - Feel Good Hit of the Summer
03. Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
04. The White Stripes - Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground
05. The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize??
06. Great Big Sea - Sea of No Cares
07. OutKast- Hey Ya
08. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
09. Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)
10. Modest Mouse - Float On
11. Metric - Monster Hospital
12. Motion City Soundtrack - Everything Is Alright
13. Lupe Fiasco - Kick, Push
14. Beck - Think I'm in Love
15. Fesit - 1234
16. Kanye West - Stronger
17. Coldplay - Viva la Vida
18. Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal

2009 isn't over yet, and with so many great records still to come this year, I can't include the last two.

Gah, I have a sort of vendetta against this song. Modest Mouse is one of my favorite bands and if I ever mention them or wear my Modest Mouse shirt, people always bring up this song and praise it as if it's the only song they have. I was playing the album Good News for People Who Love Bad News in the car with my dad and he didn't comment on one song until this one came on. He loved this one.

Probably because it is their most commercially successful song, and so its probably the only song by them a lot of people know. So they bring it up because it is a good tune and it gets them INDIE CRED + 1 to mention Modest Mouse.

It isn't my favourite on the record, but my favourite from that record wouldn't fit the criteria I set for myself when making my list.

hahaha, that's probably very true.

Oh, your criteria was what would make it on a best album I'm assuming? Yeah I just went for favorites.

Fun fact: Pitchfork has named OutKast's "B.O.B." to be the top track of the past decade, out of a list of 500 songs.

I personally would have gone for "Fell in Love with a Girl" but "Dead Leaves" is still an awesome song

Re: If You Were Making a "Best of the 2000's" CD

For me, the 90's were the golden era. If Three Days Grace were out in the 90's, there wouldn't be a band that is am actually a fan of from the 2000's. I don't think so anyway.
