Classical Music: Serious Bussiness

haha, so I found this video and kinda wanted to make a thread about it.

So watcha guys think? Especially the classical musicians.

Fiddle player is actually not to bad.
For some reason I wanted to punch the piano player in the face towards the end though. =\

So genres like this? say.....piano theater?

Do you guys like it?

Is it legitimate? or is it destroying the classical genre?

or has the "classical genre" itself just become too much SERIOUS BUSINESS?

example videos of "piano theater" (a very obscure sub-genre of "classical music", obviously a cross disciplinary genre of sorts)

music by Rzewki, text from Oscar Wild's letters to Lord Alfred Douglas.

Some highlighted texts.

Quote:
We are the zanies of sorrow.
We are clowns whose hearts are broken. We are specially designed to
appeal to the sense of humour.

If he shut the
doors of the house of mourning against me, I would come back again and
again and beg to be admitted, so that I might share in what I was
entitled to share in. If he thought me unworthy, unfit to weep with him,
I should feel it as the most poignant humiliation, as the most terrible
mode in which disgrace could be inflicted on me. But that could not be.
I have a right to share in sorrow, and he who can look at the loveliness
of the world and share its sorrow, and realise something of the wonder of
both, is in immediate contact with divine things, and has got as near to
God's secret as any one can get.

Re: Classical Music: Serious Bussiness

I'm not a muscian but isn't that a violin? oh well, I did think that the fiddler was decent but the fact that they tried to incorporate comedy into this type of music was a bit annoyning. Do you like classical music? if so have you ever heard of yanni, I consider him classical but he is labled new age.

Hey, I guess seeing classical music isn't really popular, I guess that kinda **** could help get more people into that style.

Re: Classical Music: Serious Bussiness

Classical music is srs bsns, guiz.

I play bassoon in the orchestra at school, even though I'm actually a sax player. Holy **** on a **** sandwich, do those people have high opinions of themselves! They're all waving around while they play and ****, and acting like this third-rate college orchestra is the sole bearer of the entire corpus of Western classical music. It makes me cringe.

Re: Classical Music: Serious Bussiness

LOL xD

that's funny. Do they actually sound good though?

I think it's funny when you watch a classical musician emoting like crazy *coughcoughcopyingYo-Yo-macoughcough* but they sound really bad.

This one year on the Mrs. America contest one of the girls talents was playing the swan on the cello.
It was such a terribad performance I had to mute it. =/
