I, would like to point out how I noticed that rearely anyone on these forums likes rap/hip hop.
It makes me feel alone.

Rap and hip hop is my bread and butter. I grew up listening to rap and hip hop and I will always love it! But I do, however, listen to a little bit of Altenrative/Indie rock and some grindcore but not very often.

I think that "everyone hates rap and hip-hop" thing is total bull♥♥♥♥, because every time that happens there seem to be just as many coming up to defend it.

Personally I can't stand rap and hip-hop (call them the same if you want, I don't care for technicalities). And I know that instantly will make people call me shallow or whatever other nonsense I've been called for it in the past.

It's a freaking musical preference. I'm a jazz and rock kind of guy myself.

But anyway, I think most people can agree that mainstream (MTV-grade) rap and hip-hop sucks. It's also probably why many people say they don't like the genre.

Actually a small bit of mainstream is good, but most of it's crap.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's not that all mainstream is just inherently bad (obviously), but a lot of what most people hear often is crud, not even talking from a preference standpoint.

Also, my other post probably came off as more provocative than I wanted it to, so don't take it all that seriously. (I just hate when liking and disliking musical genres lumps people into "cool" and "uncool" bandwagons, where each side considers themselves the "cool" side. Happens too often for my tastes, especially with hip-hop and rap.)

Not usually. I'm not saying everyone hates rap and hip-hop either, but no, usually a few defend it, but not just as many.

Biggie Smalls is the only rapper I listen too on a regular basis. Never really understood the love for Tupac.

There's actually been quite a few hip-hop centric threads in the past little while. Probably more than there ever has been. I can think of at least a half dozen, and there's probably twice that number.

I love hip-hop, just like I love pretty much all music.

The only rap I really can stand are the Beastie Boys and Run-DMC.

Most rap is garbage. But everyone seems to forget that most of every other genre is also garbage. The bulk of the population uses music for one thing: social interaction. And nothing works quite as well to get a bunch of strangers together as a concert.

I appreciate good rap when I hear it, but I rarely do.
