Now allow me to ramble.

Lately, in addition to a huge amount of solo guitarist instrumentals, I've been listening to screamo, small doses of death metal (Arsis, mainly), and a lot of popular radio music I was once too COOL to listen to.

I really enjoy T-Pain's music, in particular, even if it is because of Autotune. I have listened to his Three Ringz album extensively and in my opinion just about every song on it is fairly fantastic, though typically they are extremely similar to one another. While the song Kareoke Niggas isn't really my cup of tea, it's not really- a horrible song, I just don't usually get into angry rap. I mean I love Tupac, but when his B.I.G. hate songs come on I just press skip.

Oh, and Kanye's new album is really fantastic. Amazing is a stand-out track.

Before I conclude this post, I just want to say that a solo guitarist doing some crazy shredding isn't enough to get my attention - if he's not 100% passionate about the song then I can't get into it.

Edit: Forgot there's a link to my Pandora page in my sig. If you don't have Pandora, I suggest you start using it. It's free, requires no downloads, and is a ridiculous way to find new music that appeals to you.

For being the only T-Pain fan on ZU (that I know of) besides me, you're my friend. Also, I like 808s and Heartbreak but I wouldn't prefer it to College Dropout, Late Reg, or Grad. All 3 of his previous albums I prefer but 808s is no doubt really good. It's got one of my favorite intros to any album too.

Seriously, Kid Kudi and Charles Hamilton are my most anticipated new hip-hop artists. Even if Hamilton is a complete douche.

I've always listened to what I thought sound good, but it only became really easy for me to admit to it (as well as begin to unabashedly declare my love for albums and songs by mainstream pop artists) when I got old enough to realize that its better to admit to loving things that others might be scornful of than to try to hide it. It's one thing to say you don't care what others think, it's another to actually believe and live like it.

I'm not a huge T-Pain fan, at least not of any of the singles he's released in his solo career. I dig him sometimes as a featured artist, and I happen to really dig when he actually raps instead of singing in a few tracks. I like that he's quite self-aware as well, but overall I'm not a giant fan. I think it's fine that he uses autotune as an effect, but I don't like how it kicked off a lot of artists using it with a lighter touch meant more to overall correct the voice (though some already did, like Akon).

808s is an incredible record, and really cements Kanye as a pop superstar. Only he could have put a record out like that and made it a commercial and critical success.

Charles Hamilton? I'm intrigued. I looove Kid Cudi. A Kid Named Cudi is so good and I really can't wait for his new album.

Only good mainstream hip hop artist out there at the moment is Lupe Fiasco.

Lupe Fiasco is my favorite rapper of all time but I would never say he's the only good mainstream rapper.

Well, I would, considering the piece of **** radio at work is on the top 40 stations every day.

Re: Music Chit-Chat Thread Track 01: The Rumours of My Virtue They Moved Her Not At All

Kanye is laughable. I'm glad his mom died, too bad it failed to teach him humility.
Kid Cudi is boring. Day and Night was mildly interesting, but it was typical pop music fare.
Jay-Z's DOA was fairly solid I guess, but not worth any sort of purchase.
Outkast is good, but not on the level of Lupe, and I wouldn't even compare the two to begin with.
Never listened to Common or The Roots because I'm heterosexual.

Lupe Fiasco is a solid rapper, but I haven't really heard anything that makes Lupe all that special or different, much less more so than Outkast or The Roots, who from what I've listened to are two of the most unique rap groups out there.

Oh, and Day and Night is seriously a sweet ****ing song.

Re: Music Chit-Chat Thread Track 01: The Rumours of My Virtue They Moved Her Not At All

I was recently introduced to a new folk-rock artist that endlessly intrigues me and who I find to be very masterful at playing the guitar- Iron & Wine.

He is eclectic, melodic, slow, emotional, and catchy. I can't really think of a way to describe his music. He caters to a number of styles and most certainly will be a permanent and integral part of my music library.

I've wanted to pick up and Iron & Wine record for like three years, but they are always so expensive, and I can never find them used. Because I guess they are too good to sell.

Expensive? I can't put a price on music. It's so much more to me than money ever could be.

I've spent a mere 45 US Dollars on his work and I can honestly say what I received in turn was worth far more than anything else that $45 could get me, except for other music, of course.

Yeah, well, I generally need to spend $45 on, you know, food. So I can live. Maybe rent so I have a roof over my head.

I don't buy CDs that are over $15 unless it is an artist that I really really love.

Well, every one of his CDs to me was worth the fourteen bucks I spent on them. I'd save up money specially in a change jar or something if I had to.

Although I very much understand the reason to not purchase music like it's candy. No offense intended.
