If you couldn't tell I'm American, and I've heard my fair share of country music. In general American country music is about typical redneck activities ( hunting, fishing, drinking, patriotism. ) But what does Canadian country music sound like? What do Canadian country singers sing about and what does it sound like? Does it go by a different name?

Re: Canadian country music?
Well there's Shania Twain...
I think folk music tends to be a more popular genre for artists to occupy that would be most closely related to country. Country music isn't nearly popular here as it is in the States (except in Alberta, probably). There are a fair amount of country artists, though. The Be Good Tanyas, for one. Shania Twain, like I already mentioned. Hank Snow, though popular in the States, is also Canadian. And, of course, Blue Rodeo. The Band also definitely has some country in them. |

Re: Canadian country music?
Not a huge country fan, but Blue Rodeo is a favourite of mine... sort of.
And to answer your question, Brother Wolf, Canadian country is basically talking about life and whatnot. Nothing special, but very different from American country.
