Led Zeppelin

Truly gods among music. Godly songs include:

- Whole Lotta Love (personal favorite)
- Over the Hills and Far Away (another personal favorite)
- Black Dog
- Rock and Roll
- Kashmir
- Immigrant Song
- Stairway to Heaven (what is often regarded as one of the greatest songs of all time)
- The Song Remains the Same
- Misty Mountain Hop
- When the Levee Breaks
- Houses of the Holy
- Achilles Last Stand

Zeppelin IV, baby. One of the best albums of all time.

Discuss.

Re: Led Zeppelin

I'm planning on nominating Houses of the Holy to be my class's graduating song this year.
Love these guys so much.

Though I do think Stairway to Heaven is a bit over-played.

Re: Led Zeppelin

One of my all time favourite bands. Achilles Last Stand is my most loved song by them. I go into a wild state of euphoria when I hear Page's solo in that song.

I only have one minor problem with them. Plant's later live performances lack in terms of quality in my opinion. They seemed to forced and it almost pains me to hear/watch him sing.

Yeah, they're all god-like and stuff. Here are my favorite songs:
Every damn one of them.

Yeah. I gave Physical Graffiti a spin today, actually.

I saw Plant last year with Alison Kruass, and he still put on a fantastic show. Sure, he wasn't singing hard rock or wailing and flailing about, but he is pretty old guy now. He still has that frontman energy, though.

I'm a Zeppelin fan, but I tend to prefer their older material to their new stuff. Led Zeppelin II is my favourite record.

Re: Led Zeppelin

They were an amazing band for their day, but I believe they should stop with the merch, because all the original shirts my dad owns, never can be looked at as, "Wow you got that from an actual concert" instead of like just going to buy it for ten dollars at Kohls or, Target or something.
They've slowly become sellouts. I'd say the same about the Rolling Stones.

Re: Led Zeppelin

I'm a casual Zeppelin fan and I've only recently started listening to them, and because of that I still believe I haven't listened to ahalf their stuff.

Those include Coda, Presence, Physical Graffiti and Houses of the Holy.

IV is my least favorite out of the numbered ones. III is my favorite, Since I've Been Loving You is easily their most epic song.

My favorite album so far though is "In Through the Out Door" Fool in the Rain, Hot Dog, All My Love and the amazing Carouselambra just make an unbeatable combo for me(which is my favorite Zeppelin song).

Zeppelin is a fantastic band though and Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are both legendary song writers that should be considered equal with other song writing duos like Lennon and Mccartany along with David Gilmour and Roger Waters.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they own the licensing rights for their images or band logos, so they don't really have a say in the amount of merchandise that is created.

But they rarely, if ever let their songs be used in...well, anything. At least in the past, I think more recently they have lightened up on the issue (probably because a lot of the band members were interested in reuniting and wanted to raise public awareness of the band activity), but as recently as like 2003 trying to get permission to use their tunes required some pretty extreme methods.

There's also a scene in Almost Famous, a great movie with plenty of critical and mainstream acclaim, that had to be deleted because it was basically built around using "Stairway." Even as an extra on the DVD there's no audio on the deleted scene, and it cues you when to start the record so you can watch it as intended.

I'm a somewhat casual fan, I suppose. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and Dazed and Confused are probably my two favorites. I'm also a pretty big fan of Stairway to Heaven, as most people are.

Edit: And I hate Robert Plant. Jesus, his voice is bad.

I thought I'd be angry for a second.

But then I decided to forgive you for having a verse out of "Jesus of Suburbia" in your sig.

Re: Led Zeppelin

Misty Mountain Hop has been playing on my ipod more and more frequently. I only own their self-titled albums(except for the 3rd one) but each song is utterly brilliant, especially Led Zeppelin IV.

I've been meaning to give Led Zeppelin a good listen, though I'm not sure if it's better to just listen to the whole discography or just their greatest hits

Give their entire catalog a listen. You will not regret it.
