Same. If someone were to bash on my love for my favorite band, I wouldn't sit there and call them elitist. I would try to tell them the reason I love the band and at least attempt to understand their reasoning. My favorite band is Coheed and Cambria, and I have to hear constantly from a friend of mine "Claudio's voice is so annoying and gay" but than I try to explain to him how difficult it is to reach that key...especially while playing guitar at the same time. And I explain to him, yes, his voice might be high, but it is an unique voice that has many ranges and capabilities.

But than again, I suppose if we base elitism on judgement...than we are all elitist on the inside.

I know the feeling. I'm a huge Muse fan and I never hear the end of people bashing the falsetto vocals

But you gotta take it in stride. I enjoy nitpicking my own favorite music as much as I do nitpicking others, it helps to keep your ego down about it

Oh do I know it. For instance, in live performances Claudio's voice breaks nowadays. And that's due to his lack of concern for his vocal health. He smokes and does not train his voice whatsoever. One reason they have recently gotten back up singers to replace some of that trouble.

That is also bad because those backup singers take away a lot of the backup vocalising that Mic Todd (bassist) and Travis Stever (Guitarist) did.

But now I am drifting off into Coheed. Just wanted to prove that the theory of elitism was very...whats the word....exaggerated.
